Scarf bribery

Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:05 am

I didn't realise that this scarf season ticket competition was for every home game and not just the last one. Being bribed to wear red ha ha and people say this isn't a dictatorship. The whole thing gets more embarassing by the day.

Re: Scarf bribery

If it was a dictatorship he would shoot you for not wearing red. He would not give you the choice.

School not your strong point.

This isn't Nazi Germany, if it was he would have a comedy moustache.......................

Re: Scarf bribery

The point is you have the choice whether you wear the scarf or not. Therefore it cannot be a dictatorship.

Is it a form of bribery? Perhaps, certainly not a dictatorship. If he said you must be wearing red to enter the ground then i would agree with you but he hasnt

Just like buying a ticket for the half time draw - Apparantly you can win money

What next??

Re: Scarf bribery

Thats exactly the point!! :ayatollah:

I pay my money into the city and support the team.....BUT i prefer to wear a blue "Cardiff City" scarf!

So can anyone explain why the likes of myself and others who feel the same aint entitilted into this free ticket promotion!? ;) (you can spin it all you wont but we all know the answer  )

Re: Scarf bribery

Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:32 am

Its obvious.

A stadium filled with all the same colour looks fantastic.....whether you like that colour or not. We play in red, hes promoting the red.

You dont have to wear it.

Re: Scarf bribery

Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:38 am

I choose not to wear red thats my choice, and yes it would look better all the same colour but that is not
going to happen as some of us will never wear red, support the team yes. and i think any demo's should be
left at the moment and just support the team as one to get us up.

which is why I dont understand this offer as it divides the support ?. surely at the moment all that
matters is supporting the team as one not divided ?

Poor answer and poor spin

Stadium full of Blue and red would have looked great too ;)

I thought it was about backing the team and Malky??

He's simply giving a finacial incentive to encourage more red over blue...Simple :D

Ok, So in doing so and completly disregarding the people who still hold onto our blue traditions (bearing in mind our official 2nd kits blue too).......Do you beleive VT is unfairly treating the fanbase with this type of promotion stunt, especially at this point in the season??

Re: Scarf bribery

Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:50 am

because its his business, he pumps the money in and wants us wearing red, he can't make us wear red but had made these competitions so people wear the red he wants to see, its up to him!

It's Like buying a house and saying you can't change the colour scheme or wall paper etc, if you own it, you can do WHATEVER you like

Im not pro red but come on, see it from his side

personally if you don't like it you have to stay away, or don't wear the scarf's, the people that do again that's up to them

all this fuss, the club is long dead, no changing that, its whether you want to continue to support the circus or not

Re: Scarf bribery

Omg seriously, still the scarf thing.

It's a compitition, if you want to enter where the scarf if you don't want to enter then don't. Either way the world won't end.

Is the competition unfair? NO
The competition is open to every single individual who enters the ground. If, like me you choose not to wear the red scarf we are excluding ourselves from the contest. Not entering the competition is my (our) choice and not that of the person or company holding the competition.

Craig,
I fully understand your argument of "we all have a chance to enter" (i opted not too) so technically you would be right!, but im sure you understand my question was based more on the morals of the promotion even though i never worded my question to you very well  :ayatollah:

Simply VT is trying to shun all people holding onto there tradtions with tricks like this as he confirmed when he stated he aint bothered if 25-30% aint happy its hard luck, id have liked VT and Cardiff city board to be trying to bring all fans together going into the "Run in" not create divides and atmosphere like the scarf situation and VTs coments about fans in his interviews!.......Just in the same way as all the "blue protest march" is badly timed.

Re: Scarf bribery

Tue Mar 05, 2013 1:01 pm

It is essentially emotional bribery but then again it isn't. Nobody is being forced to wear the red scarf and enter. So you could say it's incentive led recruitment. I don't support the red and I won't be entering the competition. That's my view. Each to their own but it's not for me.

Typical sense of entitlement from naive fans. Lots of them we are entitled to VTs money without allowing him a say. When they say VT should consult the fans, what they really mean is, VT should do what I say..

As you have, I too have reluctantly accepted the rebrand for what it was and is, but found it just rubs salt into the wounds to see PR stunts like the brighton game, All it did was make things worse unfortunatly.

Isn't a dictator someone who tells you what to do and then you do it, I don't remember anyone telling me i had to collect a free red scarf at the Brighton game. How can you say we were bribed, it is up to every fan to make their own mind up on wearing a red scarf tonight for a chance of a free season ticket, VT is not making wear it. And just for the record i never have worn a scarf or never will Blue or red

Don't mock someone's understanding when you're also completely wrong.

A dictatorship doesn't immediately mean that they 'shoot you' for not doing as you're told (although that has happened of course). It simply means that any given system is run by one, all powerful, individual who does whatever he wants without consideration for the majority.

A.K.A Tan.

Re: Scarf bribery

You took the phrase "shoot you" literally.

Force would be a better turn of phrase.

Can't believe I am actually doing this but...

dic·ta·tor
/ˈdiktātər/
Noun
A ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained power by force.
A person who tells people what to do in an autocratic way or who determines behavior in a particular sphere.

So in my mind the difference between a dictator and Tan is that whilst a dictator would say 'The fans must all wear red', Tan has said 'heres a free scarf I hope you wear it'
