No.

Sky didn't. The greedy clubs did.

Sky bought the soul. The clubs were happy to take the cash. Now only the very rich (Man U, Chelsea or Citeh) will win the title because of this. Never forget when the premier league was introduced all Div 1 clubs announced their intention to resign from football league. Luton Town and Notts County were 2 such clubs that did so. Now look where they are. Have no sympathy for either.

As I'm only 16/17 can someone explain what happened when this came into play? Like how was it set up and that, who objected to these new ideas? Apologies for sounding like a non football fan, I've just never known anything else

Hehe don't worry I don't know how old I am either.

To be honest I've only been going to city for 3 years not got the best of understanding of the whole sky bit and how it has changed watching games at a ground, only what I've read and been told third hand, but I'm sure someone can probably sum it up for you on here

The way I see it is, no there is no thought for fans etc, they just choose the games but you can't deny that the coverage that they show isn't top class, all the camera angles and everything, the stuff before the match, when you're a neutral fan you get sucked in, so its really good value for money but when you're a fan that gets affected by it its a pain in the ass!

The money is one obvious criticism, too much money paid in to the game only to paid straight back out into players pockets.

Basically it was straight forward, just over 20 years ago bskyb (murdoch) said that they would put massive money into the new league format (premiership) through sponsorship and customer subscription, the vast majority of the funds would go to the clubs on the condition that sky had total control of when clubs would play.

Thanks for clearing that up, before Sky then when were games on TV? Would it just be MOTD etc in the evening and the Local news show highlights of games and that?
