Head-to-head
• Cardiff are looking to increase their unbeaten streak against Derby to six matches with a fifth straight home league victory over them.
• The Bluebirds have won twice as many league games against Derby as they have lost (W26, D14, L13).
• Derby came from behind to draw the reverse fixture 1-1 with a 69th-minute goal from Theo Robinson, cancelling out Heidar Helguson's early opener just six minutes after Cardiff had Craig Noone sent off.
• The Rams are chasing a first win in seven visits to the Welsh capital, following a 2-0 triumph in September 2004.
Cardiff City
• Cardiff may have won more matches than any other club in the Championship (22), but Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough was their second loss in three outings and reduced their lead at the top of the table to five points.
• Since the second flight was last restructured 17 seasons ago, the lowest points total with which a club has gained automatic promotion is 79; Cardiff are nine shy of that mark.
• Malky Mackay's side have amassed an unrivalled 40 of their 70 Championship points at home, and only conceded 11 goals in the 16 outings at the City of Cardiff Stadium.
Derby County
• Derby have slipped back into the bottom half of the table courtesy of a six-match winless run, in which just three points have been picked up.
• Nigel Clough's side could fall to three successive league defeats for the first time this season.
• The Rams have played five of the top six away already and have lost all five. They have only notched three victories on the road, the most recent coming at Bristol City on 15 December.
