Not many City shirts ere in Penang, Malaysia

Sat Mar 02, 2013 5:37 am

Just took a trip to the biggest mall in Penang . I'm not surprised to see no City shirts but a little surprised that they don't even sell any QPR shirts consider they are owned by a fellow Malaysian owner . Only champions league team shirts are being sold ere .
Good luck to the boys today at Boro and to that all that follow our club.

We need to get established as a Premiership team for our profile to rise - but I firmly believe that VT has a long term, not a short term plan.

Ever thought that the reason that QPR shirts are not popular is that because they are in the wrong colours ;)

I'm only joking, but in all seriousness, I believe it's likely that the red shirts are not necessarily to break into the Malaysian market (but they will help), but rather the as yet laregly untapped but massively potential Chinese market.

In VT we trust :ayatollah: :malky:(I'm sure Malky would agree  :malky: )

They don't sell them in shops in Aberdare either lol.

Wish they would though all jokes aside. They would sell loads if you could buy them in sports shops around south Wales. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yes you are correct the "red" is targeted towards the Chinese too which the wealth is in this part of the world.
The Malays don't give two hoots on colour.

Went there in the summer and bought myself a knock on one from a street market for £5, great quality as well. I also spoke to one guy who 'supported' cardiff and got the impression he liked us because he saw us as representing Malaysia. I think he was a small minority though as I didn't see any major shops selling the shirt. 3pm k.os are on tv at a stupid time there as well like 1am

You don't see them sold in St David's 2 in Catdiff either. You can walk through the whole town on a weekday and not even see someone wearing one.

Malaysia has a population of over 28 million so there Is even less chance of seeing the few that may own one.

You'll need to win the Champions League a few times before you shift any shirts in Asia.
