A question........?

Why does the modern football fan support their football club these days? When you consider the following;

1. A squad that is full of players with different nationalities, with perhaps a few local or at least 'British' players, with predominantely little or no connection to the community for which they play for, bar say Craig Bellamy, Steve Gerrard etc,
2. Foreign managers again with no affiliation to the town city or club they manage
3. Survival/progression being bank rolled by foreign investment in the majority of clubs. Notably ours, man city, Chelsea etc

I just don't get it, I know 'we' are losing our identity but I think in the grand scheme of things football has lost its identity for a long time now.

:(

To answer your question, what other option do we have?

a good question. I think fans and players are much more disocnnected than they ever were.

For those of us with the habit we continue to go because its simply that and we enjoy the drink with our mates but i fear for the future. What incentive is there to watch an ever distant club that dont care for its fans, overpaid players, overpriced tickets/food/beer etc etc Im not just talking city here its every club. Football is dissapearing up it own arse and there wont be anything for poeple like Tan to take over but he cant see that. Alienate the core fans and there isnt a product left

My point exactly. Watched Watford earlier, looking at a half empty stadium, a big club like that a shadow of itself. Beaten by an assembled team from al over Europe, not doubt their fans enjoying he success, but it's all false. I enjoy a drink with my mates as much as anyone else but I fear like you that this modern game is losing its appeal, and with that you will lose the fans. It's a sad state of affairs :roll:
