I've Made My Decision

Fri Mar 01, 2013 1:18 am

And it was an awful one to make but I am not going back inside the stadium to watch the team unless tan is gone. He's dictated his way through this season and the fact he's even considering changing the name to the dragons should be a concern in itself! He has shown no remorse for changing the colour and badge, the red scarf brigade showed him that they were happy to roll over and accept it just for a bit of premiership football.

Yes I am grateful that he saved the club but we didn't need to change to red to give us success. We could still be in this position in blue if he hadnt been such a dictator.

Going to kill me not looking forward to football on a Saturday but I can't watch the club I grew up with be destroyed by this idiot

Mate, i feel honestly bad for you, i'm the verge of doing exactly the same myself.

The people commenting saying "bye" or whatever really don't understand why we're hurting from this and they probably never will, fair enough that they're happy to go along with this shambles but to try and wind people up who it's really hurting isn't on. But don't let them get to you mate, it'll be hard enough giving up watching the club you've loved for however many years. It is right the thing to do though, you know that, i know that, it's just about having the stomach to be able to give it up and stick to it now.

I personally, don't know what do do. I'm back and for. And it's killing me at the moment.

Why comment at all if just to be sarcastic and wind someone up who's clearly hurting because of this?

Tell me, do you think the people who are given up on going to watch Cardiff do it because they want to? Or because they want to feel like they do about this whole rebrand?

Do you think fans want to be at the stage where they can't help but give up on their club because of how this whole thing makes them feel sick?

No, they obviously don't, but i'm sure a lot of people will never understand how some people feel about this club.

All i'm saying is that (and this isn't aimed at this poster in particular but quite a few) is don't wind up the people that this is affecting most.

Saying bye is just being honest you tit.

I respect your views Richie and it is sad to see that this has driven you away.

I don't like it but I don't want some man and his vision stop me from watching my club.

The players and manager are the only thing that make me happy in a way seeing us have a quality team and reaching it's full ability for once.

It's sad that true fans will be replaced with new fans.. I hope the fans who are on the verge of leaving to not leave and try and fight the rebrand and don't let VT push us away.

Mate, i've read plenty of times on this board where people have spoken about how they feel they can't go to games any more, and they've just been wound up about it, it's not being honest its people making a point of letting them know that they won't be missed by the club, i think they know that but i'm sure they're not leaving the club 'to be missed'.

The fight against the rebrand is lost and was lost before a ball was kicked this season due to fans not standing up and being counted,no point prolonging the agony most want out of this awful predicament.Anyone with blue in their name is a hypocrite the red has been excepted so the next step for those who stay is to stop kidding yourselves and admit to embracing Tans Red that is what you are now The Reds.

I personally, don't know what do do. I'm back and for. And it's killing me at the moment.

I'm massively in favour of VT and fully support the rebrand, but have massive sympathy for people who feel so strongly about this that they are considering leaving the club they have supported for decades.

My plea to all supporters who feel this way is carry on supporting the club and allow VT time to see if his plans do have credible business reasons behind them.

Only time will tell on this, as I suspect we will only see the benefits of the change in about 5 years time - if we do (as I believe we will) make in-roads into the Asian market (where there are millions to make, and as yet still untapped resources), and we have the kind of success we could only have dreamed about before, then at least people will see why he's done what he's done.

It may be that some will say, even if all that happens, they still want nothing to do with the club, and I suppose, if that is how they feel, then no arguments as to why the rebrand happened will suffice to change their minds. However, even then, I do not see that as a reason to rub anyone's noses in the mud, and would be very sad to see anyone who takes this view leave the club they obviously love. Personally, if any who do this wanted to change their mind at any stage, I would welcome them back with open arms, and I sincerely hope any City fan would do the same. :ayatollah:

Annis I think this is a great post. IMO the Club is more important than the shirt, although of course it's symbolic and means a lot to people in terms of memories, affinity, tradition etc. But it's a lot more than that. I believe the most important part are us the fans and the synergy we create together. When I first started watching City I fell for the atmosphere, the excitement and the great people you meet in fellow City fans. In the beginning the shirt didn't matter although of course you grow an affinity with it as time passes.

Love him or loath him, history will show that VT will be one in a long line of owners and I truly believe we will be back in blue in the near future. Now is the time for fans to stick together and ride this wave - I recall what Sam H said a while back - tough times don't last, tough people do.

I think most of us are just happy to still have a club trading and playing football, the Prem if it comes is just the icing on the cake, I've watched 46 years of City, if it was about the top flight 'd have jumped ship years ago.

It's not a decision I've made lightly. I would like nothing more than to be there supporting Malky as he is the best manager I've seen down there but I just feel that we could still be in this position in blue without all of this fuss. If I felt we could do something to change Tan's mind I would be at least trying but he's so hell bent on getting his way I feel there is just no point.

I fell in love with Cardiff CITY, not the Cardiff dragons

The Cardiff Dragons are already registered by the FA, they are a gay team based in Cardiff, fact, don't think anyone thought for a minute you supported them, but hey it is 2013. ;)

That decision, was reversed due to umpteen fans contacting him to change his mind about pulling out of his investment in us and although it has clearly upset a lot of fans, last week's home game showed that a huge majority have accepted the red change!

He hasn't changed our name as yet at least and has made a statement clearly denying that this will occur!

The time to stop going if you couldn't stomach a name change IMO, is when a change is announced, or when it becomes a reality!

In the meantime, I'd recommend you keep attending matches and enjoy the football our team is dishing up, especially if you're a season ticket holder and have already paid for your seat! :ayatollah:

Re: I've Made My Decision

Richie, whilst I respect yours and others decision (like TLG) to follow your principles I feel that you maybe missing a trick. Do you honestly think we will survive in the premier league ? Getting there maybe more fun than being there.

How long before "You're not Bluebirds any more" sang by 2800 away fans on another home beating will cause anti rebrand fervour. Lets be honest, we lost a game last week when we outplayed the opposition stupid, hit the woodwork four times and had a blatant pen turned down and some clowns booed.

We haven't the most resilient fan, when we do get beaten by stoke and the jacks who will we take our frustration out on - The rebrand. May be fun in a perverse sort of way
