No he didn't, now if you going to use snippets have the decency to use the whole section in the right context.
he offered to withdraw the rebrand and allow us to carry on in blue, but stated that he would not continue with his investment which was part of the package, when people weighed it up they realised the the future of the club was at risk and rallied around to ask him to go ahead, which is what he did, was you in a coma when that happened.
Dont trust him after this and just to add Tan knows f**k all about football and knows even less about football fans which is his downfall in eyes.
Like that bloke said in the programme, he knows nothing about Parmacy's, but he still opened one hundred branches this year, we got people at the club that know about football, let him handle the business, which you can see from his track record, he does well.
I cant help but think he has planted the seed like he did before with the red thing .You just dont no what he is gonna do and that is why I havent renewed my season ticket yet.
And you actually think for one second after announcing no name change on TV he'll go back on that and lose face and trust worldwide, we ain't talking Ridsdale here.
What I will say is I will fight for my club but I would like other fans to do the same the blue balloon's up at watford is a start Tans circus goes on in which direction though ????????????
What have you done to fight so far, and would you be happy to fight enough to drive VT away?
Anyway Tan is happy that in his words 75 % are happy and the other 25 % who are not doesnt matter so I dont matter to him well what an idiot of a man good shout there Tan

He was comparing that to a standard business module, and as for 75%-25% it is apparent it's more like 95% -5% in this case at best.

He later made statements suggesting that he may not invest further in the club because his plans were being opposed. Some fans like yourself shat themselves and interpreted this as the end of our club and Tan took confidence from people like yourself and did a u turn.
Before Tan did this U turn he did not even have the decency to do another press confrence to say that he was reverting back to his original plans so you can see why there is little trust in what he says anymore.
I would also question your figures about fans being happy as you quote a 95% to 5% split. I think that any pole would reveal that there would be more than 5% who were unhappy at this time.

QED - you see things as simple as VT's way or oblivion. Whatever ones position on the rebrand VT cant be right on everything and if disageement with him means he throws his toys out then so be it. f**k him. Let’s hope Tan is true to those words, that this is an end to the whole unsavoury issue.
“that we will not be changing our name from Cardiff City Football Club.”
A Cardiff City name change would be totally unacceptable
A NEW colour was one thing... just about acceptable to the majority of Cardiff City fans.
But a new name? Preposterous from the outset and totally and utterly unacceptable.
Thank goodness Vincent Tan put out a statement yesterday afternoon where he appeared to backtrack from original comments attributed to him and categorically assured Bluebirds supporters “that we will not be changing our name from Cardiff City Football Club.”
Let’s hope Tan is true to those words, that this is an end to the whole unsavoury issue.
One which, for a few hours yesterday, enraged Bluebirds followers who had previously displayed fierce loyalty to Tan, despite the hugely controversial rebranding from red to blue.
The FA rule book states in black and white that a club seeking to change its name for the following season must put in a formal request for approval by April 1.
There is a certain synergy to that date, given the nonsense that we woke up to yesterday morning.
58% of fans say they would leave if club changes name
Had a story appeared at the beginning of next month about Cardiff City becoming the Cardiff Dragons, we would have laughed it off as one of those customary April Fool’s pranks.
Sadly, however, yesterday was no time for levity.
Virtually to a person, Bluebirds fans were up in arms at the spectre that had been raised by Tan.
Rightly so, too. Cardiff City FC is one of the greatest brand names in Welsh sport and it must never be permitted to cease to exist.
Suggestions that the Bluebirds would be renamed either Cardiff Dragons or even Cardiff Malaysia have been going the rounds for a while in the Welsh capital.
But no-one really gave the re-naming theory too much credence... until Tan was quoted yesterday morning as stating it was something he couldn’t rule out.
Pardon? This is not the RaboPro12 League. Next season, our Bluebirds should be playing in the Premier League, the biggest and most high profile domestic competition in world football.
The eyes of the world will be upon our capital city club. The idea of them meeting Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal as the Cardiff Dragons, Cardiff Malaysia or anything other than Cardiff City is frankly too ridiculous for words.
At a time when the Bluebirds are close to playing for the biggest prize in their history, their very identity could have disappeared.
No thank-you.
Not that we haven’t been here before with the Bluebirds.
When Sam Hammam previously breezed into the club, he toyed with the idea of renaming it the Celtic Dragons or Wales United.
Hammam, like Tan, saw Cardiff as a Premier League team in the making to represent the whole of Wales.
His argument was that sell-out Millennium Stadium crowds at the time to watch Wales internationals were by and large dominated by Bluebirds fans.
Hammam even went as far as exploring whether the then Wales boss Mark Hughes would become Bluebirds manager, too, as part of the ‘Cardiff are representing Wales’ plan.
Hammam abandoned his rebranding proposal. Tan, doubtless shocked by the outcry amongst fans yesterday morning, has quickly shelved any idea of renaming the club, too.
His call is the right one. There are still some Cardiff fans who will never buy into the red kit and have ceased to support the club any more.
But the overwhelming majority have embraced the change of colour, given the Premier League dream is finally being delivered as part of it.
A change of name, on the other hand, is a step too far. If Tan didn’t realise that before, he most certainly does after the furore his initial remarks caused.
As the owner who has given the go-ahead for millions to be ploughed into the Bluebirds, Tan is right when he says that gives him “the right to make a call on some things you believe will make it better.”
Fair enough. But the difference between Cardiff City and any other business enterprise Tan has ventured into is that the real owners of the football club are the fans.
They were in situ before Tan came on board. They will be in situ after he has gone, whenever that may be.
Their views should always be taken into account. And they don’t want Cardiff City’s name to be changed. Full stop.
From here on in, we should be celebrating the march of Malky Mackay’s men into the Premier League elite.
Talk of a change of name serves no other purpose than to split the fan base. At a moment when everyone should be pulling together, the timing could not have been worse.
In his statement designed to put the record straight, Tan appeared to acknowledge that by saying, “I would ask that we join together, continuing your excellent support at what is a critical juncture in our season.
“Our collective aim is to back Malky Mackay and his team as they work hard to bring us success.
“Working together we can achieve great things in the name of Cardiff City Football Club.”
Note those last four words. Cardiff City Football Club.
Let’s always keep it that way.
Please.

The name has to stay because it is marketing gold but maybe we should look at having a feeder club in a Far East league called Cardiff Dragons? We could send promising youngsters and older players still in contract (e.g. Steve McPhail) out on loan to play for this team which would supplement the local talent.
IMO we have seen awarding winning badge and shirt designs on this Message Board and VT should think seriously of adopting some of them because they are excellent and would sell anywhere.
