CARDIFF DRAGONS WILL NOT HAPPEN

Thu Feb 28, 2013 3:34 pm

CARDIFF CITY could need the approval of three footballing authorities if they were to change their name.

Speculation is mounting that Bluebirds backer Vincent Tan might want to continue his rebranding process by altering the club’s name to the Cardiff Dragons.

Any name change would need to be authorised by the Football Association of Wales and the English FA

And if Cardiff are promoted to the top-flight, the change would need to be ratified by the Premier league too.

If Tan wished the change to go ahead for next season, he would need to inform they FAW and the FA by April 1st.

The FAW would put the request before its Domestic Committee before a hearing by the FAW’s full council.

The request would also have to be agreed by the full council of the FA.

If the Bluebirds had gone up the name change would need to be agreed by the Premier League also.

Vincent Tan tells all three that he'll pull out of the club if they won't allow the name change. If he leaves the club is likely to go into administration and that would be bad for all 3. The FA, the PL and the FAW. Therefore its likely they'll all allow him by majority vote to go through with his plans. All those 3 organisations only care about the money as well and if Tan threatens to put a stop to the club getting money then they'll soon do as he says.

It'll look disastrous for the PL and FA to have another club go into administration.
