Nobodies changed the name yet?

Thu Feb 28, 2013 10:14 am

People need to calm down and see what really happens and not what that shit rag of a paper says..
At the moment ive tolerated the colour and badge change but no way would i tolerate the name cardiff city changing..
But that has not happened yet and us fans are not 100% sure that it will happen until Tan actually comes out and says it will change or theres proof it will be changed then i feel people are getting worked up ( understandable ) over something that hasn't happened..

Well IF it does happen I dont expect to hear any moaning from you Jinks.

As you keep tellung others, walk away if you hate it that much and dont spoil it for the people who just want to watch the football.

I'll walk away if the name cardiff city is changed. I wont continue going and be a drama queen and cry and moan all season then renew to moan all through another season again .
I wont pay or waste my time in something i'd hate so i'll be gone :thumbright: ...

I will answer for Jinks here

"Mario,Bookmark, take a picture if that pleases you"

We are Cardiff city and Jinks Like many others have stated whilst we're Called Cardiff City, we will follow them.
Tan does not say "I am going to change the name to Cardiff Dragons" he states he is open for discussion on further aspects of the brand Cardiff city. He wouldn't commit to saying the above because he knows the legal ramifications and league regulations that have to be adhered to. Now I don't know what the league rules are for a club changing its handle but I'm fairly confident the Premier League would not accept a brand Cardiff Dragons, which could open the gates for London Blue Jays or Tyneside Magpies or even South West Wales Caravanners.

It won't happen.

Your deluded , The premier league will do anything that heightens the pull of the premier league as a business , having a team in the premier league which millions of Malaysians can identify with and support would open up a huge marketing opportunity for them and would have no problem allowing the change , there is no rule against it happening they even sell their own naming to companys like Barclays so why would they care about little cardiff city changing to the dragons ?
To change the name of a football club tan would have to convince a three man panel from the fa that it is the best way forward to keep the club viable and running within the financial fair play regulations , can you really see that decision going against him with our debt record and his so far successful rebrand ? I can't to be honest .

Tom, would a club not of done this sooner then?
If the money was there to be made why haven't the league suggested nicknames?
The commercial value of the PL is the Marquee names like Manutd etc ..
At a push I could see the City being dropped and just called Cardiff. With the already unofficial nickname dragons inserted.

As for Cardiff well most TV reporters don't say Cardiff City anyhow it's always referred as Cardiff.

I never said it would happen !
I said they would have no problem as long as tan can argue it is the only way forward . These things are decided by independent panels at the fa , can you really see tan losing the case with the financial record of cardiff city and the recent success of his rebrand ?
Even mk dons won in front of the panel for a move of city's let alone just a name !

Not really because it hasn't been needed in the past as much as it is now with the new rules coming into place soon .
Also I don't believe there is another owner in British football with the complete lack of respect for fans and the lack of football knowledge that Vincent tan has !
The commercial value in the premier league is not through clubs like man utd its in tv rights and naming rights (ie sponsorship) , tv rights in the premier league are worth billions every year . The foreign market is worth ten times that of the British market due to the sheer numbers of people interested in the competition , why do you think the bigger clubs are so focused on the Far East and other countries like America ?
Foreign fans will support successful teams that's a fact , especially a team they can identify with like an Asian team in the premiership , that would be huge and Vincent tan is spot on business wise with his plan . The 20k fans over here are small fry compared to what he is looking at .
If this works there will be a deluge of clubs following the model set down by tan , if it doesn't then the club dies . Is it worth the gamble ?
The league wouldn't suggest nicknames because it is not there decision , in america and china it works very well which is why they can afford huge wages to big foreign stars ! I also believe they would have no problem with a change it would make no difference to them what it's called as long as its successful , imagine a team Malaysians think of as there own in the premier league , how much do you think that would put on the price they could sell the tv rights over there ?
It's a business and if you had any idea of how business works you would be able to see the plan they have its staring everybody in the face , I would be suprised if tentative talks have not allready taken place with the leagues as to the viability of these ideas because if it was impossible he wouldn't be here now !
