A forum for all things Cardiff City

There are more people who want to watch Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs etc. on their doorstep than there are people passionate about the Bluebird identity and history. That's the big problem here. You stop going to games, and people will still fill the seats - especially against that lot. This is why the people in charge feel they can make these changes - and to that extent, promotion would be the worst thing possible for the traditionalist, as there's going to be a full house pretty much every week.

Yes it's called succes. Some people would prefer being a City fan to be a private members club limited to an amount of people that when you go on an away trip, every body knows your name or your face. Well those days may be coming to an end. I've been there, experienced that. But Playing the top teams is what most City fans have dreamed about since we lost out on goal average over 40 years ago. If we make it you'll have to adapt and get used to the change.

Spot on. Lets get real. If City were not at the top of the table in with a good shout of the Premiership there is no way that we would have sold the number of season tickets that we have. The crowds are down this season in comparison to other seasons. We may have sold out the remaining ST slots because of the chance for premiership football but the 30th March deadline has not come about yet so we do not know the actual numbers that have or are going to renew. Numbers are going to be high but there are probably many who will wait right until the deadline to see if we are still on for the promised land. It looks as if we are and there will be a good up take. However if we had been mid table we would really be struggling to achieve anywhere near our current ST member numbers. It a fact of life. There are also many reluctant rebrand fans out there who will abandon ship if the promised land is not achieved. The owners/persons in charge are currently in a position of strength because they know that they have fans who want to watch Premiership football. Realistically what would our crowds be if we were constantly mid/lower end of the table particularly in view of the changes?
