' Cardiff City striker Rob Earnshaw opens Toronto talks '

Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw is being linked with a move to Major League Soccer club Toronto.

The Wales international has flown out to hold talks with the Canadian club and may have a trial with them with a view to a move.

Earnshaw has not featured for the Bluebirds, who are the championship leaders, this season.
"It's a little too early to tell if that's going to happen, said Kevin Payne, Toronto's general manager.
Payne, the Toronto club president and general manager, confirmed on the club's website that Earnshaw was a possible target.
"Earnshaw arrives to take a look at us and for us to take a look at him to see if that's a fit that might work," said Payne.
"It's a little too early to tell if that's going to happen."
Earnshaw re-joined Cardiff City , where he began his career, on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest back in July 2011.
The 31-year-old had a loan spell at Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv towards the end of 2012, but returned to Cardiff in the new year.
Two more English imports - attacking midfielder John Bostock of Tottenham Hotspur, and striker Robert Earnshaw of Cardiff City - will also be in camp.
"[Earnshaw] arrives to take a look at us and for us to take a look at him to see if that's a fit that might work," Payne said. "It's a little too early to tell if that's going to happen."
Payne, who took over at TFC in late November, admits that he is playing catch-up with the roster, even as the Reds prepare for their season opener on Saturday in Vancouver against the Whitecaps (6:30 pm ET on TSN).
The roster that opens the season in a few days' time will likely look much different by April.
"There's a lot of stuff that has to happen in a short period of time," he said. "We have a lot of prospects on the radar right now in camp."
There are several players not in camp as well, including two players in Honduras and another in Argentina.
"We're working to sign potentially a young Designated Player, a forward, out of the Argentine league," Payne said. "All of these players would be initially on loan because we'd want a chance to see them in our league before we make any long-term commitments."
Frings, who was signed as a DP midway through the 2011 season, had his 2012 season end in August because of a hip injury that required surgery. Because of his age and the injury, the club was not sure what to expect from him in his comeback attempt.
"We were certainly looking for players in his position anyway," Payne said. "We knew that it wasn't realistic to assume he was going to play every minute of every game anyway. There are a couple of young players we've identified in different parts of the world that we think could really do a job for us there. Now we're working on taking a look at them and hopefully getting them signed.
"It's a loss and it's a gain. It's hard to replace a guy who's played in two World Cups but now we have a DP slot, an international slot and cap money available."

Played pool with him and a few others last week over caephilly way MM hardly talks to him although he was signed before he come on as manager, he been wanting to get away all season no matter what you read in the crappy papers. Nobody will cover what hes on at city due to him not claiming a signing on fee when he signed for us weeks before MM come in, so his wages are higher and a few clubs will not match it nore city will not take a hit on it, makes no sence

Wish him all the best from me bb1977. Earnie was a great player for us when were shit and a nice lad to boot, would always come over to fans during the warm ups when we away, have a chat, laugh and sign autographs. He gave us fans and indeed Welsh supporters some great moments with his goals and huge smile when he scored, he really did enjoy scoring. Whatever he does I wish him well and say thanks for great memories Mr Earnshaw.

If he follows the money then fair play to him, a wise choice as he's not got many years left as a pro and has what, at least 50 years to look forward to without a job.
