Working in Llanelli again earlier today.........

Wed Feb 27, 2013 4:54 pm

And Cardiff City still seems to be the predominent team there. Didn't see one 'Welsh Wigan' shirt / coat which suprised me as they have just won the Mickey Mouse Tin Pot Trophy for reserve teams. Saw the usual Man U - Chelsea stuff which you expect to see, but again really suprised to see several Cardiff City scarves (blue), shirts, coats and other merchandise. They hate Welsh Wigan in Llanelli and it's close to the town itself.
When the capital city arrives in the Premier League to give it a real Welsh representation then many more places around Llanelli will turn even more Blue. Suprising...........but in a way not so.

Oh and also driving through Llansamlet saw a sign on a pub saying 'Watch our Capital City in the Premiership live on Sky from this August' .......Seems parts of Welsh Wigan are already jumping ship (or has that area always been Blue as well?)

C'mon Saddles you are making yourself look stupid with this claim. Llanelli and Carmarthen along with other west wales towns are rugby places but the football fans that are genuine (i.e CCFC and Jacks) will be 75% jack and 25% CCFC (maybe even closer to 90% jack and 10% ccfc).

Just because you didnt see a Jack today doesnt make it a non-jack town. That's the same as bumping into my family in Andover with my boys in their CCFC stuff and saying Andover is full of Cardiff.

Can't comment on Llanelli, Gareth, but I would dispute that Carmarthen is an egg town. Been back here two years after 34 in Cardiff. Football is pretty healthy here. Carmarthen Town are well established in the WPL, and Johnstown FC have a good set-up too. Both clubs have teams at all levels. True, there are two egg clubs, but they don't dominate, and they hate each other! In the town itself, you can see plenty of people with various football gear on. Lots of English clubs, Tottenham, Leeds, Wolves, Everton, WBA, and the usual top five. Quite a lot of people have moved here from England, and they tend to be football fans. There is a bloke in the market, who sells football programmes, and does a decent trade. The Swansea fans came out of the woodwork after they won that last game to stay in the league, about ten years ago. To be fair, they have been pretty prominent ever since. Ironically, (so I'm told), some of them can't get into games now that the club is in the PL. There are a few Cardiff fans about, as there always were. Would not claim a majority, though.

Much the same could be said about Haverfordwest, and Newcastle Emlyn. Football in Pembrokeshire has always been strong, even more so in Cardiganshire, or Ceredigion, as it is called now.

So, with respect, its a myth that west Wales (wherever the boundaries of that lie) is egg dominated. Like everywhere else, football is the most popular game, with people supporting a wide range of clubs.

Hook............line...............sinker yet again, Welsh Wigan.

Hopefully they will all be banned soon anyway, just like they are from planet welsh wigan.
