Championship Top Scorers

Wed Feb 27, 2013 11:49 am

After Vaughan's winner for Huddersfield last night, the list of top league scorers for each club in the Championship makes for interesting reading...

Palace - Murray 27
Burnley - Austin 21
Watford - Vydra 20
Blackburn - Rhodes 19
Blackpool - Ince 17
Leeds - Becchio 15
Leicester - Nugent 14
Birmingham - King 13
Brighton - Mackail-Smith 11
Derby - Ward 11
Millwall - Wood 11
Bristol City - Davies 11
Middlesboro - McDonald 10
Forest - Sharp 10
Ipswich - Campbell 10
Wolves - Ebanks-Blake 10
Hull - Aluko 8
Charlton - Kermorgant 8
Barnsley - Davies 8
Peterboro - Tomlin 8
Bolton - Eagles 7
Huddersfield - Vaughan 7
Sheff Wed - Antonio 7
Cardiff - Helguson / Whittingham 7

Despite being 8 points clear unbelievably we're bottom of the charts! I wonder if a team has ever won a league before with their top scorer having scored less than any other team's top scorer in the league? Goes to show what an amazing team effort its been this year...

Its a crying shame that Campbell is gonna ruin this record by scoring another 15 before the season is done. :malky:

This could be a key reason why we are doing so well though.
Goals from all over, not reliant on one player. If we play say burnley we know the main threat and we deal with it. For opposing teams we have a threat all over the pitch, goals from all over including the bench :ayatollah:

Should I be worried that Fraizer has scored our last 5 goals then?

Taking the pressure off the team for a few games, win win situation ;)

Another way to look at this is ask how many clubs have 9 players who have scored 4 or more goals. That shows why we are top of the league with goals from all over the pitch.

I honestly believe if Maynard was not injured, we would have another 8 points and he be sitting up there with 15 goals. Most teams that go up and a prolific scorer, but it just shows that we are a solid team all over.

I'm sure back in a promotion season of 88,our top scorer had 10,Paul wheeler believe?

We'll be higher up come the end of the season. I reckon that Campbell will have scored twelve goals for us at the end.

Notice though that hull only have 1 scorer in there and then only on 8. I'd rather the goals be spread around the team so you can't stop one player to stop the team so to speak. For example, if Murray doesn't score for Palace who does?

Campbell will get over 10 goals I reckon :ayatollah: :notworthy:

Haha maybe

Just shows when the goals stop coming from all over we have someone now to step up :ayatollah:
