Cardiff City star Fraizer Campbell urges Bluebirds to 'pass teams to death'

Feb 26 2013

Frazer Campbell.

“I can’t complain. I scored a couple of goals against Wolves and we won the game which is the most important thing,” said Campbell.

Cardiff City must keep ‘passing teams to death’ to secure their Premier League dream according to Bluebirds’ hot-shot Fraizer Campbell.

The 25-year-old striker (pictured inset) has started repaying his £600,000 transfer fee from Sunderland with five goals in five games for his new club.

Campbell scored both goals as Malky Mackay’s side saw off struggling Wolves 2-1 on Sunday to go eight points clear at the top of the table.

The brace meant Campbell scored two in his first home start as Bristol City were overcome and a pair in his first away start at Molineux too. After a defeat to Brighton sandwiched in between Campbell admitted he was delighted to be finding the net, but said with 13 games left it was team-work which would see the Bluebirds promoted.

“I can’t complain. I scored a couple of goals against Wolves and we won the game which is the most important thing,” said Campbell.

“We’ve got to carry on the way we play, passing teams to death, and hopefully by the end of the season that will be enough.

“At the moment we’re winning more games than we’re losing and I’m a happy man. It’s going really well.

“We’ve won three games and only drawn one and lost one since I’ve been here, so it’s been great.

“I’m happy to be part of this team.

“We did really well against Wolves.

“It was a tough game and we were delighted to have come away with three points.

“Wolves have got a good squad of players who are unfortunately on a bad run at the moment, but I’m sure they

can turn it around.”

What a real breath of fresh air Campbell is, our gain has really been Sunderland's loss as far as I'm concerned, Sunderland has been crying out for a goal scoring striker and they had one right under their noses but failed to see it and let him go to us which obviously I'm delighted, Malky must have been rubbing his hands with delight when they accepted £600,000 from us for his signature. We have the best manager, the best keeper and now the best striker in the league without a doubt.
Before we signed Frazier, somebody on here made a thread about how many goals everyone thought Campbell would score til the end of the season, I can't find the post but I said that I thought he would score around 10 and to be honest I will stick to that and maybe add a few more, he really is a gem of a signing and a breath of fresh air to the squad, awesome player and still not 100% fit. :D

Totally agree :malky: and to think it was 12-1 for him to be our highest goal scorer when he joined :laughing6:

Looking sharper each game, working hard to close down just like Bellamy, goalscorer without a doubt, good in the air and seems to have slotted straight in to our team ethic epitomised by his chasing back just before he was subbed on Sunday!

He is everything we hoped for and more in January, takes the pressure off Bellers and others who are now playing with the shackles off :ayatollah: :malky:

Dave, I remember some people on here were saying that they wouldn't be excited by the signing of Campbell  I wonder if they still feel that sentiment :laughing6:

I can't blame anyone who had their doubts, an "injured" player who was not getting off the bench. If we all had time machines we could always be right. That being said I am certain a lot of people are glad they were wrong.

Does he fall into the catergory we have seen so many times - too good fir championship, not good enough from prem?

Only time will tell I suppose, so far so good though :malky:

I know where your coming from Polo, if he finishes the season the way he's started for us, we're going up! :malky:

Frazer will be on cloud 9 with confidence sky high, Maynard hopefully back strong as an Ox, busting to prove himself too as he probably fits your category also. With Bellamy and probably one or two additions we'll have some excellent options :ayatollah:

We will need another couple of strikers for sure. Helgur too old and static for the prem now, and Rudy not good enough.

Hope we dont go the QPR route and buy "names" on the way down.

I was watching that Kone for Wigan earlier. Hes a handful. A cheeky bid for someone like that as wont cost silly money, they are a selling club, and we pay bigger wages. That Figeuroa at left back too.
