Andrew Taylor

Mon Feb 25, 2013 1:29 pm

Was at the game yesterday and where we were sat gave me a great opportunity to observe Taylor close up.

Now to be very honest I was not too complimentary of the guy at the start of the season - I now have to eat my words.

His performance yesterday was excellent, his control, passing and coolness under pressure, impressed me very much, something that we have seen developing over the last few months.

At the end of the game when he came to acknowledge the fans you could sense the delight in his face and expressions - as much as I would have liked to play for city it felt that he wanted to be in the crowd with us celebrating as a fan!!!

In my opinion certainly the best improved player in the team :malky: :malky:

I agree, him and Conway link up very well, have a good firm understanding, I guess he's learnt from his mistakes, another shrewd signing by Malky that has worked well

had a poor start to this season, but was consistantly solid last season and has been fantastic for a while now. Was my MOTM v Brighton and sounds like he had a good game v Wolves too.

Agreed - signing Lappin has probably helped :ayatollah: :malky:

Was clearly at fault for the first goal against Brighton. Not sure why people are raving about him at that game :?

Been my favourite City player since he joined. I used to play left back. So I know how difficult the position is, but he always puts 110% into his game and is great going forward :ayatollah:

I agree thought he was average against Brighton and at fault for the goal.

However yesterday he was top class.

He's one of my favourite players too. Always consistent, one of MM's best signings. He was very good last season, and he's been very good this season as well. We should be grateful that we have such an adept player at left-back, which is characteristically one of the hardest positions to play.

He was at fault however he was doing what his manager has asked him to do, which is try and get up the line to support our attacks, it went wrong and he got caught out of position.

I am sure Malky and his team would have run through this with him after the game. :malky:

No it wasn't that, he was back defending, we had the throw, he threw it straight to Brighton then missed a tackle, then got beat by his man. He had a crazy 2minutes that cost us.

IMO he has had a very good season, left backs are expensive and hard to come by.

It doubly frustrated me as he;d just done the exact same thing half a minute before but wasn't punished the first time.

He's good enough for our current aims and I agree there's been no point in buying an upgrade as yet.
Would like a replacement for the prem personally though.

I thought he was our man of the match against brighton though he did make a mistake for the first goal. He tried to get forward, kept the ball well and defended well.

Man of the match yesterday IMO and a very consistent performer for us :malky:

Top post. I agree as well. And when we get to the Premier League he can stay as first choice if he continues playing like he is. So I'm sure that City probably won't be lookig for a left back for once!

He is a great player as well as a great fella. He always has time to acknowlege us in the Ninian Stand and even takes part in the banter.

I am of the same opinion and yes he has got better, although he still can't use his right foot, and it really annoys me when he turns inside because you know he can only play the ball one way, back, but to be fair he never gives up :malky:

Always in the team and he's the one who doesn't stand out but he plays his part and done his job well.

Like 2b said it's hard to come across a decent LB.
