A good day

Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:54 pm

Thanks to Carl's brother for our bus :ayatollah:

Had a good day, and for me a relatively sober-ish one

Thought city were excellent in the first half, some real good football. The wide players getting plenty of the ball especially down the left, very comfortable.
Wolves changed it about the second half and gave us a few problems even tho we still looked dangerous.

I was in the second row and do struggle to have a good view so close but my ratings anyway.

Marshall 7 - not a lot to do in fairness.
Taylor 8 - excellent, real quality, ran at wolves, linked up well and solid in defence, a clear MOTM
Hudson 6 - I thought the central two looked a ad shaky considering the minimal threat wolves offered.
Turner 6 - mistimed one tackle which could have been costly. Has more to give
Connelly 8 - not a fan of him at rb but done very well and superb when moved into the middle after Hudson went off.

Cowie 7 - very solid, full of running, it's easy to see why MM likes him, neat and tidy.
Witts 7 - some lovely passing in the first half, really it stuck in as we'll.
Gunnar 8 - used the ball very well and looked so strong on and off the ball, excellent again. Recovered very well from a dip in form earlier in the season
Conway 8 - superb, used the ball well, kept possession and strong throughout.

Bellers 7 - such a good player with such a word ethic. Should have scored tho.
Campbell 8 - his goals were not the most impressing thing today (although most important). Worked hard, ran at defenders, kept the ball well, what a signing.

Highlight of the day, a lads celebration :ayatollah: that's all I'm saying

Oh and for the scarf colour obsession-ists plenty of blue and some red scarfs, plenty of blue scarfs waved when the 2nd when in :ayatollah:

One thing I didn't realise about Campbell before he signed (and I was already a big fan) was just how strong he is, a big plus in his all round game. Who was your motm 2Blue?

Other than the goals (both headed) he also wins the ball in the air in general play quite often. He obviously isn't a target man but a bit of an all rounder.

MOTM...... Read my post :old:
It was Taylor though, thought he was top top quality today, was tempted to give him a 9 but not quite.
Left backs are hard to come by and his form in recent weeks suggest he may be able to handle the step up.

My bad

As I said in another thread, Taylor and Conway compliment each other really well.

I think if we could get a similar player to Taylor on the right side, we'd be sorted defensively. Fairplay to Connolly he puts in plenty of effort at right back, is sound defensively but in an attacking sense is obviously a centre half playing right back and doesn't look comfortable.

Yeah I agree.

Thought kev looked good when he came on mind. He had some tight situations to deal with and don't think he lost the ball once, infact used it well.

Conway and Taylor stood out.

Campbell took his goals well.

I never left a game so angry because the fact Bellamy missed at the end.

The 6 minutes were seen out comfortable.

Played some amazing Football on times.

Ball was spread out a lot to Connolly, had tons of space. :ayatollah:
