For the first time in my life I'm ashamed of our fan base.

Sun Feb 24, 2013 2:24 am

I never thought I'd see the day, but I'm now embarassed to call myself a Cardiff fan. Not because of the rebrand, and not because people are supporting it. I understand people's reasons and accept that they have different views and opinions to me. But the attitude of some people that making a new club is a joke, that anyone who is against the rebrand isn't a true fan. You should be ashamed. You don't have the right to decide who is a good fan and who isn't, especially when you were the one to roll over in the first place, all for the prospect of a few years in the premier league.

This board has become a joke, and it isn't the fault of the mods or owners of the board, just all the shit idiot posters who think the sun shines out of their arse.

People should be left to do what they want. We all started supporting for different reasons and we all have our reasons to feel the way we do. I've already stated in my blog that I don't blame those in red for what they have done but its a wider societal issue where people just want to go and watch a live event/show.

There are very few real fans left in football and most now are just customers who part with their cash on the day and in exchange expect a good day out and value for money. Tan is providing that, dragon gimmicks at half time, free scarves and the offer of free season tickets so its not surprising people feel this way. Especially at times when people want something for nothing instead of working for it.

As more people have become middle class and as ticket prices have risen the day trippers are out in force. Britain is danger of ending up like America soon in terms of consumerism and materialism. People see the latest thing, they want it. People see someone on the TV and there will be people who look up to them. You only have to look at social networks to see the types of people we have in society today that will create a video of themselves doing something vulgar to get a reaction.

Back in the day most people in society had morals, respect for traditions and values but these are in decline and as football is a subset of society it only makes sense it follows down this same hideous path. It's just the way society is these days and people are accustomed to it. Image, materialism and getting at the top is everything. Respect, morals and traditions mean nothing. People just don't care for these types of things anymore and they only care about now and what they can get out of it.

They don't look to the past or the future, they live for the moment and that is that so telling them the club could end up in shit creak falls on deaf ears because as long as there is a team for them to see on the weekend and have a few pints beforehand they are happy.

Sad but true. It's just the way things are.

People can start a new club and support it no problems if thats their opinion/belief, but that new club would look like a joker club cheap rip off of the real cardiff city, man united are still man united and fc united of Manchester just look like a joking club , so it is a bit of a joke yeh

How do they look like a joke club? They stood up for what they believe in, and that's earned them respect. You seem to eb the only one who thinks that splinter clubs are "joke clubs".

Yeh stand up for what you believe in but you will be supporting a joking cardiff city , same as fc united of Manchester is a joking Manchester United, it's like a genuine pair of ray ban sunglasses or a fake copy you can get from turkey or something and fc bluebirds will be the fake copy that's the fact and that's what it will look like to joe public and many fans because the real cardiff city will be in the premier league but hey if that's what you believe in then do it by all means

To be fair you live on the other side of the planet so you don't really know much about the fans. You're just basing it on a few comment you have read on the message board.
