Attention Seeking Disorder

The drama queen:

Every single incident or opportunity, no matter how insignificant, is exploited, exaggerated, and if necessary; distorted to become an event of dramatic magnitude to draw attention to their plight in life in order to gain sympathy and support needed to affirm the diminished ego, as well as, an absence of a appropriate sense of self. Everything and every experience is elevated to crisis proportions and played out as the greatest tragedy. Histrionics (deliberate display of emotion for effect) may be present where the person feels he/she is not the center of attention, but should be.

Such a troubled man.

Im not interested in what you have to say. I'm concerned about your mental health.

Your posts are an extension of a psychological disorder.

Sometimes you can't just give up on a patient, especially when they are in denial about the symptoms.

I could help you, but you need to want to help yourself.

An abusive response is common in the early stages of initial dialogue with a patient.

Try to think logically about what's causing your frustration and anger and take a deep breath.

Take your time, we'll continue when you're ready

Ive always had a sence of humour in real life and take the piss out of myself alot as the likes of Polo have stated on here many times. What I didn't really like was no-marks who don't even know me taking the piss (or pishhh as I would say) on the internet and just acting as keyboard warriors but lifes too short really and going down the Cornwall for a few with the boys last week showed me that football is no longer the be all and end all in life.

Ah! Mr Brown, it's good to see you've come back for a second session.

Recognising the need for help is the first step in successful therapy.

Today we will Focus on anger management. Tell me about the last time you lost your temper. What was the cause?

I prefer home visits for sessions like this tbh. All you could be is another internet con artist living in Nigeria and wanting me to part with my cash after a while!!!!

An interesting response Adam. Sorry, do you mind if I call you Adam?

Do you usually try to deflect focus away from difficult questions with humour, or should I say attempted humour. I still detect some underlying hostility and resentment when talking to me.

I know it's difficult but we need to home in on the root cause of your anger and frustrations. Lets go back to your childhood. What's your earliest bad memory?

As I say I prefer home visits so tell me when you are free and I'll try and make room for you in my diary.
