The TV programme: Stella

Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:37 pm

Last night I thought I'd watch it as everyone keeps on about it and I must say 'what a load of shit'!!!!

What on earth is the attraction..? Is it just because its based in Wales..?

Re: The TV programme: Stella

It's not the worst comedy/drama to come out of Wales and it's always interesting to 'recognise' areas of filming, so don't really see why you feel the need to bring it up (other than just an opportunity to post, which would be quite sad)

As a Councillor, surely YOU can get something done about it? ;)

Oops!! The democratic sytem we live under meant that voters CHOSE NOT to give you a second chance to embarrass them with your public actions/statements ;) ;)

Don't be so bitter. I am sure that somewhere inside is a little 'Happy Man' trying to get out ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

What an absolute rubbish response. So are you saying that you like it simply because it's based in Wales ?

What? So you're going to have a go at someone professionally because he doesn't like a TV programme? :?

Erm, NO! I only watch it (i the background) because 'she who must be obeyed' quite likes it because part of it is filmed in her home village ;)

My point (mickey taking apart) is that it doesn't really matter whether someone likes or dislikes or for what reason. If you don't like it then just switch it off ;)

Actually, NO. That was a little tongue-in-cheek (and possily uncalled for; although it is right that his community decided not to re-elect him because they felt he didn't 'represent' them as they wanted ;) )

Not sure why you feel you have to defend him on this occasion, though?

I thought this was a football forum  ;) :ayatollah:

To take one show in isolation means you will not understand that a lot of the comedy has been built on character development over a series and a half. Therefore you would not understand a lot of what is going on.

I'm an exile in England and I have quite a few English mates who come to watch it in my house religiously because they don't have Sky. They think it is absolutely hilarious.

So to answer your point, no....it's not because it is a Welsh thing. The reason so many people enjoy it is because it is unbelieviably funny.

This is why I think you're a tool. You ask for an opinion and what the attraction is, you get an answer and then tell them their response is rubbish. Why ask in the first place if you're just going to slam their response?

I said it was a rubbish response because as Barry Chuckle says the response was having a pop at my professional life rarther than a debate about the said programme.

Personally the likes of Ruth Jones are just not funny anymore. Both her in this show and James Corden on other shows have a career after just one good seris (the first seris) of Gavin and Stacey.

I watched it once and I won't bother again.

I find it strange that England's many accents get coverage and yet Wales just has the Ruth Madoc on Hi-Di-Hi accent to represent the whole nation. Cardiff has the largest population in Wales and is the capital, yet its accent is hardly ever heard on TV. Somewhat different to London, whose accent can always be heard on TV.

Thats cos the "Kerdiff" accent is f*cking awful. Aggresive accent. No good for comedy.

Best one yet was 2 or 3 weeks ago when they went to that spiritual group when Dai was heartbroken.
