It will be good for welsh football

If swansea win at wembley tomorrow, what do you think?

Re: It will be good for welsh football

It will have no impact on welsh football what so ever

I'd like to think I'm a very sensible Cardiff fan and doesn't take the rivalry to extremes to which it clouds my judgement unlike others. Yet I still want Bradford to win.

Not only would it be great for a League 2 side to win a major trophy and be in Europe. It would be pretty hard to watch them do what we couldn't do 12 months ago at Wembley. That already happened when we lost the play-off final, 12 months later they went to wembley and did the business. I'm afraid I think history is about to repeat itself at our expense.

Come on Bradford :malky:

Just because you don't see an impact does not mean there is not one, chelsea winning the cl would of firstly taken chelsea to another level, also the premier league will of benefited by having the cl winners playing in the premier league. So if swansea win tomorrow and play in europe next season even tho we will be representing england, wales will still benefit form the media coverage etc.

Full of cliches but not much substance.

You say it's taken Chelsea to anger level? Expand, which level has it taken them too. They sacked their manager a matter of months later, have been knocked out of The champions league early on.

How has the premier league benefited from having the champions league winners in it? Not to mention you are actually talking about Wales not england. So as well as answering that, how will Swansea winning the league cup benefit welsh football considering its an English league cup?

Some explanation would be nice.

Not talking about on the field, but off field chelsea sponsorship deals would of increased and so would they're worldwide profile. This would in turn have a positive effect on english football. How will wales benefit from swansea, well apart from benefiting the local economy including cardiff airport, it may well inspire welsh children to want to go and play football, so they too could one day play for swansea or cardiff so all in all the whole of wales should be suuporting the jacks tomorrow.

how though? You keep saying these things without backing them up. Please show me the increased sponsorship deals and then show me how that money has been used to improve English football. Then you will have a point, until then you are just guessing and assuming.

How will wales benefit from swansea, well apart from benefiting the local economy including cardiff airport,

how will Cardiff airport benefit from .swamsea winning the cup? Are they only going to come back if they win then?

it may well inspire welsh children to want to go and play football, so they too could one day play for swansea or cardiff so all in all the whole of wales should be suuporting the jacks tomorrow.

nonsense. The continued coverage of premier league and all that fame has to bring footballers inspires children to play football not a one off capital one cup game.

How will cardiff airport benefit-when you play in europe teams fly so would the supporters, are you telling me that chelsea have not gained both financially and through the rising of thery're profile and that there is no knock on effect for english football, i dont need to show any proof of that, because everyone knows that to be the case, its a bit like saying i have just won the lottery but i have not benefited from it. As for inspiring welsh children swansea winning tomorrow and playing in europe at the very least will not do any harm.

its nothing like saying that actually. It's like saying a man in Cardiff won the lottery so it has benefitted welsh football. How has a couple of extra million benefited English football? It probably went on one of their foreign imports signing on fee which then makes it harder for an English lad to break through.

So again if you can show me where their extra finance came from and then what it was spent on to benefit English football then we can talk. Until then you are continuing to make assumption after assumption.

Well i cant prove that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow, but we all know it will, i never said the extra money was spent on english football the benefit for english football, comes from a feel good factor.

Anyway i don't want to get into an argument with you because you do come across as a decent cardiff fan and that is rare.

Re: It will be good for welsh football

Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:44 am

I'm not arguing with you I just genuinely have never understood the notion that a club winning something will be good for its countries footballing prospects.

Chelsea may have got a couple of million for winning the champions league but surely it depends on what they spent that on to determine whether it has helped English football. They may have used that money to pay off Di Matteo and if you ask any Chelsea fan then that's nowhere near a good thing. Yet if they ploughed it into youth development that they wouldn't have normally done, then you would be correct.

But until we know where the money was spent we cannot say, As for Swansea, I am pretty sure them winning or losing will have little impact on the nations football as a whole. The only thing I can think of to be subjective is it will give Ben Davies a boost winning a trophy, but even that is scraping the barrel to be honest.

But good luck, I'm sure you will do what we couldn't. And don't let anyone on here say "you were only playing Bradford" because your run has been superb.
