A forum for all things Cardiff City
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:11 pm
The truth is, Tuesday night finally broke me, it hurt so much to see our fans looking like fake Liverpool and Man Utd fans, it was bad enough what Tan had done to our identity, but now our so called fans, embraced it and in fact loved it and forgot who we really are Cardiff City BLUE & THE BLUEBIRDS not Red Birds(Which is going at the end of this season). In over 40 years of following Cardiff seeing that was worse than any relegation or the 9 years we spent in the 4th Division, where I never missed a home or away game.
I am for the first time really starting to lose my love for the club Ive loved for over 40 years and have shed many a tear for, yet loved every moment of it deep down, but now I am hurting so bad its no enjoyment anymore.
Where do we really go from here, in my heart they are taking MY CARDIFF AWAY.

Like you said, You have been there for the ups and downs, If this is a down for you ride it out, Lets hope it gets better.
Bluebirds!

I feel the same way Annis, I'm seriously thinking about not renewing my season ticket
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:18 pm
Deep down you will never give up!!! I will never give up.
The club had to evolve we all know that deep down
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:20 pm
Honest, heart felt views which I share too. I am not sure where my support for the club goes either but I watch City because I enjoy the game and I enjoy being with my father when I go. These are things that the rebrand can never touch but like you say this is a lot harder than watching city in the lowest division.

FFS man you have been in tougher situations than this. Its not great at the moment but we will get through this, its a blip in a 112 year history. You have a lot of sway with the "right" fans, get the word out that we want only blue songs against Derby. It needs to be home to get the message out.
All of us need to stop the wallowing in self pity and get on with it.
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:27 pm
The timing of this negativity is awful. We as fans are generating an adverse atmosphere.
I know we didn't ask for the red gate saga but please let's see the season out.

Annis, your feelings are mine.
I have every respect for TG but this trust does not extend to VT. We would not be in Rangers or Portsmouth's situation without Mr Tan; the former frittered away income from 47,000 ave gates on average players and Pompey stepped outside the legal constraints of a reputable company. A more correct example would be Swansea, who despite still going into Administration twice, are now in the PL. VT is raping the identity and history of Cardiff City FC. We are Cardiff City, a club representing the city of Cardiff, not Wales or even Malaysia. Red and dragons have no link to us whatsoever. It is very sad to see that it appears TG's views have been marginalised and his profile extremely low key at CCS behind VT's full length red coat.
Something must be done.

owners come and go , fans are constant , we support the club through thick and thin .
This is a strange time to be a Cardiff City fan, on one hand we are on course for one of the biggest prizes in football, but on the other hand we are not doing it in our traditional blue , it does somewhat seem a bit tainted.
However it's still our club we were hear before Tan and I wont let him or anyone else force me out of my club, I believe 1 day we will return to blue admittedly not for a few years , it's still my club and always will be BLUEBIRDS

Cwmbach,

We really are our own worst enemies at times.

The idea that the Bluebird is going is just speculation with no basis.
Very sad to hear you feel that way though

Breaks my heart. some of the fans down there now are there for the prem and thats a fact, i know a few myself.
I have 2 Bluebird tattoos, Bluebird beer glasses, cups, towels etc all gone really
Blue Army is on hold, it could only happen at City
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:50 pm
I hate my club at the moment.
There we are, I said it
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:52 pm
I'm exactly the same, a 'team' rebrand could be tolerated to an extent (survival etc), but not a 'fans' rebrand. People say its just a colour and the name is still Cardiff City (except for the scarfs), so why do we feel like this on the verge of a 50 year wait to the big time? f*cking sickening.
I really struggle to see how people who have racked up years down the City are comfortable with whats happening and are able to relate to it? It's nowhere near the same club - no edge, no atmosphere, hardly any passion from the stands anymore, the team looks different, the badge is different etc etc. It's not US going up, it's a new fake club and the whole of Britain are watching in hysterics over what we've become - How can anyone take pride in this I really can't understand. The new club in its current guise, cultural approach & dismissal of our history does not represent me, the areas we are from or any of the fans who have attended games consistently over the last I dont know how many years. We're proud people, proud of our identities, proud of our reputation, what the f**k has happened to everyone? A sniff of success and everyone is willing to sacrifice everything that has made us. All just IMO of course.
All boils down to what you value, simple as. Anyone who wears red or one of those scarfs had a choice and cant argue any different. I'm not slagging anyone off here or trying to have a pop, that is not my intention, however anyone who choose to wear red etc does not value our history/identity, they cant do otherwise they wouldnt even think about wearing any of that shite. And I dont accept this new chapter and chamge bollocks either - yes there are reasons we could tolerate the team playing in a different colour but not our fans adopting the colour also. The next few weeks on the Cardiff (City) fromt will be interesting to say the least.

MP,
you are right and I felt the same. But you're talking about Cardiff City as we used to know it at NP.
It's amazing how the south Wales public will kill/bend over for a free cheap scarf.
We had a row of foreigners sitting in front of us who never said a word(perhaps they were put off by the anti-argie comments from our row).
Tuesday was plastic city and it was weird(I had words with a few)but it would help if the Canton singing section actually sang and chanted instead of playing with their i phones/bollocks and the Ninian bit followed instead of just posing and moaning about the stewards.
Fri Feb 22, 2013 10:58 pm
Jonscam your correct
yeah its tans club as hes putting the money in but respect goes both ways. and there need to be a compromise to help the fans accept the red if thats the way it is.
Not just tear this club up, ending up with a dead stadium.
Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:11 pm
Vincent Tan won't be at this football club forever, One day we'll be back in blue. Let's just enjoy the usual 'CCFC Rollercoaster'
Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:11 pm
Agree with Canton Jack hate the club and the fans currently
Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:18 pm
How can you say the fans 'Loved it' just for the fact they accepted the scarf and wore it?
I understand your thoughts and respect you along with the fans..
I didn't like it Tuesday but think it will take a lot more for Tan to stop me loving Cardiff City Fc.

Agree with this. This forum has turned into a complete whinge-fest, with the same thread being created time and time again. Life is full of choices, seems people have to make another one now. You either keep your allegiance to the club that is Cardiff City regardless of colour, players, managers, stadia etc or you cling to what you know and the traditions your time as a fan brings with it. Each to their own and nobody has the right to say another is wrong, but this self pitying is becoming pathetic.

I agree this is the downest up anybody has ever seen. That's why it's so hard for people to deal with.
Lets all support the people that matter the players and manager then we can do something about it.
Never quit on the things you love!

City my arse. Its turned into Liverdiff.

Completely agree with you Annis.
But I don't care what time in the season it is, we need to stand up to the rebrand and protest. Some people are saying "wait til the end of the season", but if we get promoted the red will be worn more and more by the plastics who turn up for the good times. I know you and a lot of others are saying that we should've stood up to it a long time ago, and I agree, but it's never too late to try.
I do want this club to succeed, but our traditions come first for me. It makes me sick that some foreigner has taken that away from us because he likes the colour red and he doesn't care what we the fans think. We shouldn't go out without a fight.

I am not fully bothered about what time of the season it is. Just you won't be heard unless you do it towards the end of the season..

Were we chelsdiff before then? The red issue is what it is but can't see what trying to link it to other teams achieves unless the Malaysians come out and state that it is the reason behind the change.
