“Cardiff City has been around for 100 years and that’s a long time for a club,” he told shareholders.

“There is going to be another 100 years for your children, your grandchildren and my grandchildren. We will fight tooth and nail for this club.

“This is not a normal business and when we came to Cardiff City we got into something we are not used to. But we don’t see this as purely a business, it is an institution, one we should be proud of.

“This is a Welsh club and will always remain so.

“We are custodians and will do our best for this football club.”

I remember it well. It's a pity TG doesn't have the same influence now. He struck me as an honourable man but sadly, the t**t who's calling the shots now is the very opposite.

It's every City fans dream to see us in the Premiership. But personally for me, it was my dream to see a blue Cardiff City - the Bluebirds get there who I had supported for 24 years and had a passionate emotional connection to. Instead, it looks like we will get to see an unrecognisable red Cardiff getting to the Premiership. I will never give up supporting my local club, but the elation watching us win and the despair seeing us lose isn't there for me this season. It just doesn't feel the same.

Because some of us want to put our clubs tradition first before success. Some of us would rather watch us in blue in the Conference ahead of seeing us red in the Premiership.

I suppose there may be a few that say this and fair play to them if that's what they feel but so sorry you are in a small minority if you want to see City in the Conference. You would be very wrong however to believe that those who want to see City succeed at the highest level do not care about the club's tradition.

I wasn't disputing the fact that some of those wanting us to succeed do care about our tradition. But personally for me, I would have more elation watching us win the Conference in blue than see us win the Champions League in red. I will never give up supporting my local club mind and I will be at Hull to hopefully watch us lift the trophy.

If we did go bust, we would just start again like Halifax and Wimbledon. I suppose the fact I have already seen us in the dungeon and I actually quite enjoyed them days, visiting what I call the "proper" little stadiums with character and atmosphere makes me feel I would have no problem going back to those days again. I appreciate everyone has differing feelings, opinions and emotions over all this mind and I have respect for those who put together their feelings honestly to back up why they're not against the rebrand.

Re: TG Said “This is a Welsh club and will always remain so.

Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:25 pm

Unfortunately Annis is spot on. VT is a dictator and it is quite obvious that all around him are scared to question his authority. He has no emotional attachment to this club in the slightest. He is a business man, he will view this club like he would view a share on the stock market, this club to him is an investment and unfortunately in business, emotional attachment does not come in to it.

The man has a history of re-branding struggling businesses and building them into profitable companies. If I made an investment of £100m and lost a small percentage of fans because of the re-brand but then replaced the disgruntled lot with those who are lining up to hand him their money and lapping up his vision I would not care in the slightest. I certainly would not allow the emotions of a small minority scupper my investment strategy (which has served the guy pretty well so far considering he is a billionaire).

I do not question his motive in investing in Cardiff City, a potentially huge club who were only a few months from drastically increasing their revenues from Premiership football. I do however question his exit strategy. Put it this way, there's no way that he would walk away without securing Premiership football, even if by some unlikely reason we fail to win promotion this season. I believe that VT has identified a future investor in the club and the re-brand and the management structure that VT has put in place at CCFC is all geared towards eventually selling at a considerable profit to this investor. Peter Lim's name has been mentioned a few times now. If this is the case, the club will never go back to blue or the bluebird.

This is why action should have been taken as soon as the re-brand was announced. This has been the saddest season I have ever witnessed as a city fan. The supporters are divided, the history and traditions that we have grown up on have been shit all over. I am honestly shocked and quite embarrassed that the general attitude of City fans is to roll over and accept this. We are known as being a passionate bunch of fans but that passion seems to have been drained or even ground out of long-term supporters over time. It has hurt like hell this season watching Cardiff. Tuesday night was a devastating blow, it was like walking in on your wife in bed with another man.

The attitude that has been adopted of "let's not rock the boat" is in my opinion why we will not see the blue shirts or our beloved bluebird for at least the next 10 years. We should have let VT know exactly what the bluebird and Cardiff CIty means to us with a boycott of the stadium, organized peaceful protests, organized wearing of blue shirts and blue flags throughout the stadium as soon as this joke of a re-brand was announced. The very calculated way that VT bent the fans over a barrel has been a very intelligent move on his part. He knew he would introduce his re-brand over a couple of seasons (thus not losing any revenue this season from supporters walking away because of the loss of the bluebird and the name Cardiff City. Once the disgruntled base have left, he can pretty much do what he wants to the club).

It's my strong opinion that the in-fighting and lack of decisive action from Cardiff fans has struck the final blow to our dying bluebird.
