Embarrassed off the field last night

Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:55 pm

Can't fault the players last night.. it really was just one of those days. Bet Brighton thought they were dreaming every time the ball bounced the wrong side of the post.

Yes the scarf fiasco was a real shock, but that wasn't what embarrassed me (much).. what did was our atmosphere.

Many times since the move I've stood up for the CSS, slated others for abusing it "its the fans not the ground" and at very rare times it can be rocking. Last night was really poor.

For a team this close to promotion, dominating the game... despite losing the atmosphere should be electric.. at EVERY game.

When everyone sings (which is never) we are very loud.. when a minority sing the sound simply does not travel and the atmosphere is dead.

Brighton rave about their superb support last night but if im truly honest, bar a few occasions I didn't hear them at all from the Canton.. the sound just does not make it around the stands. The grandstand and family stand may as well watch a stream at home as I forget their existence if we haven't just won a penalty shootout.

Surely SOMETHING can be done to the roof to change the acoustics or the seating arrangements without that much effort because we're being mocked week in week out without the word "red" needing a mention? The sad thing is that nothing ever will be.

What was even more embarassing was the crowd getting on the players backs.

F*cking disgraceful. Weve been spoilt.

The atmosphere was dead because of the red scarves. I for one didn't feel like chanting with a bunch of sell outs around me.

I saw three incidents last night.
Half time under the canton.
Full time under the canton between an older fan and a few younger.
And a few verbals towards "red scarf wearers" in a car park in canton.

The one under the canton at full time looked like it could if ugly if stewards weren't about.

I told him to f**k off and he ignored me after that. I'm an 18 year old student so he probably saw me as an easy target.

At times against Bristol it was rocking, we're supposed to generate a good atmosphere especially during night games and last night was absolutely awful. The one and only thing I hate about being top of the league is that some of our fans think every game is a breeze, no reason to sing and think they're too good to generate an atmosphere against teams that are below us.

Jonccfc, the way you throw around the words 'plastic', 'sell outs' and 'not true fans', then expect more threats!

Youve been abusive for a while towards the reds and chances are you were threatened last night because you were acting up.

Then playing the "im only an 18 yo student" card.

Last night the only thing I did was hold up my blue scarf and chant "Bluebirds". Nothing wrong with that. I only reacted when some tw*t told me to "f**k off and support someone else". I only brought up the fact that I'm 18 because he probably saw me as an easy target and he definitely didn't expect me to stand up to him as he ignored me after that.
