As disappointing as the result was tonight, I came away from the game thinking that we played some excellent football, I actually believe that some of it was some of the best we have played this season, no more long punts forward by the centre halves but the ball was played out from the back.
What I couldn't get my head around was the booing of our players when we were in possession of the ball, just because we were going backwards we still had possession.
We dominated Brighton tonight and had we been more clinical in front of goal then I have no doubt we could and should have scored 4 goals and that was before they got the classic sucker punch.
We were not beaten because we were bad.
The final ball, especially through the middle, was the biggest criticism I could have but the balls being delivered into the box from the wings was unrelenting.
Taylor arguably had his best game for City and Craig Conway must have played his way back into the starting line up.
Every now and again we are going to lose a game and this division always throws up unexpected results and tonight was no different with both Leicester and ourselves losing at home.
The red scarf is a talking point tonight and I don't know what I expected to see but I certainly didn't expect to see the sea of red that greeted me when I walked through the concourse of the family stand and I was more shocked at the sight of the three stands I could see from my seat, as I say I didn't know what to expect but what I did see shocked me.
I wore a football top tonight to a football match for the first time in over 10 years and I felt different, not because it was not my normal attire but because I felt an outcast, I felt a lonely figure of blue in a stadium full of red. It hit me more tonight that at any other time since the re-branding.
I suppose I better get to used to it because it is not going to change to my liking anytime soon.
I don't want to end the post on the colour so at Wolves on Sunday, like he has done so many times this season, I am sure Malky will turn a disappointing result around in the next game.
The evidence over the last two games suggests to me that somebody is going to get a battering of Cardiff City and I want that to be this Sunday against Wolves more than anything.

Booing or moaning simply at keeping hold of the ball is nonsensical
Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:42 pm
Yea well said but you missed the booing at the end of the game what was that all about .
We have all seen bad games over the years this team is brilliant we lost a game and the fans boo at the end I must be getting old or something cos times are changing all are fans want is success its all a bit mad if you ask me.

His name is Geraint, he is a diabetic. My brother Jamie who is a diabetic himself gave him glucose and then took his blood sugar levels and he is levels were extremely low.
We walked him to the Ninian pub to sit him down in the warm whilst the ambulance was on route, the positive was that he was responsive and we got him to his feet and he was responding when we left.

I am hurt, by the result and by what I felt was totally unnecessary tonight and that was ramming the red down our throats.

That sounds positive.
Well done to you and your brother for stopping to help mate.
Hats off to you and Jamie.
Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:50 pm
The booing when they go back I just don't understand. We've got the ball!! Keep it and start again. Don't here the Nou Camp doing that otherwise they'd be doing it for the whole 90 minutes!
Absolutely awful to see so much red. Really didn't expect to see so many scarfs. Really does hurt

He was in a poor way and others were stopping and had stopped to help too.

Good post Carl totally disagree about Taylor though, I felt the whole back line were poor tonight. The stand out performer for me on a poor night was Conway

Yeah Carl he was fine once we got him in the Nin, couple of cans of Coke and he was right as rain. I was surprised how quick that stuff works!!

The celebration of a free scarf by so many fans was what surprised me - so many wore them as if it was the normal thing to do. It will be interesting to see how many are brought to the next game, and the games after that.
just like in the Bristol City game we could have had 4 goals, but it was not to be. Sometimes it is like that. A point at least at Wolves will keep us moving forward.

Nothing was rammed down anyones throats. The fans had a choice. They made it.

If they were proper Cardiff City fans there would have been no booing. On the pitch we were very unlucky. Just one of those games that did not go our way. Real Cardiff City fans or should I say the old school would have never booed that performance.

It feels to me as if I'm suppoting a different club altogether the club I fell in love with as a knee high boy diappeared along with ninian park the atmosphere as changed, the supporters attitudes have changed for a bite of glory, the colours have changed, the badge has changed, what's next is the question in my mind? And I don't think anyone has the answer?
Wed Feb 20, 2013 7:46 am
there was a couple of boys around us booing the ref at the final whistle with some very choice names thrown in(a rude word about a ladies private area was one of them)
Wed Feb 20, 2013 8:51 am
I can't see how you can say Taylor had a good game, he was 100% at fault for their first goal.
First he threw a weak throw in that got intercepted straight away, then he let his man get passed him and put a cross in as if he wasn't there.
On a side note Conolly's passing has been shocking these last few games. New full backs are a must next season.

i agree with this... connolly was really poor.... at least if when kev distributes the ball the opposition only get a throwing, connolly gifted possession and seemed very easy to beat.
Wed Feb 20, 2013 9:31 am
The distribution from the entire back four was awful. Make that back 5. Marshall's best attributes bar his reaction saves is his ability to pick out an opposition player anywhere on the field. I lost count the amount of possession we lost from his kicks.
Taylor never stops crosses! I think it's a bit harsh to blame him entirely for the goal though. He was trying to assist an attack which resulted in poor movement and passing from a few players getting us into trouble.
Central midfield was way too static and stale. Cowie should have been in there. I know he's not everyone's favourite but at least he moves and offers the pass.
We will bounce back on Sunday though. Wolves are like Sheffield United were a few seasons back. They are destined for League One. We are a wounded lion and should win.
I'm just disillusioned with the whole colour thing. Really don't know how I feel or what to do regarding next season.
Wed Feb 20, 2013 9:40 am
I'm afraid you afto move with the times or get left behind.
Wed Feb 20, 2013 9:50 am
Last nights game reminded me of a game we had against Ipswich a couple of seasons ago where we dominated the game but ended up losing 2-0 ! On another day, we could have got 3 or 4 but it just didn't go our way!
It happens and hopefully the team will move on as they have over the previous 31 games and put it right at Wolves on Sunday.
I can only hope that it is the anxiousness of being so close like the last 3 previous seasons that creates the frustration shown last night ?
Personally I am pleased to see we are trying to play a possession type game even if I feel Whittingham is far too deep for my liking and we need to move more off the ball to create space .

I agree the booing was out of order, keeping possession is important you just have to look at alot of the top european clubs.
I feel that there was a number of times in the second half that long punts up field increased as frustration crept in. Taylor I'm afraid was as fault for their first goal, otherwise had a reasonable, not a good, game. Connoly was dire, he is not a rightback while he has a hole in his arse, his passing is terrible and in the second half he was either knackered or not interested. He for one has been quoted on several times, saying from his experience, what is required to win promotion, he needs to put his experience into play and make actions louder than words. Both fullback positions, in my opinion, should have been strengthened in the transfer window (Lappin is'nt the answer). Our set piece situation has deteriorated to the degree that we very rarely beat the first defender at corners, we have this stupid bunching of players near the opposing keeper with no variety at all, and free kicks are very often wasted even at times ending up back with David Marshall. The alarming thing to me last night was that as the second half progressed Malky, despite the people on the bench, didnt seem to have a clue how to change things. Conway came on and was "lively" and bringing Helgusson on with 5 minutes to go, what's that about? For me, Smith should have been replaced by Kim and Noone by Mason, with Bellers going wide and for God's sake push Whittingham futher forward and let Gunnerson sit in front of the back four. If we had taken our chances it would have been a different story, but I am afaid for much of the night Brighton "sussed" our system and we did'nt have the variety to change it. Yet we are still top, and in a good position, but as we know from the past it is not over untill the fat lady sings on Saturday 4th May.
Wed Feb 20, 2013 10:05 am
I felt exactly the same Carl, hope we bounce back against Wolves.
