Sam Hammam's rebrand!

Tue Feb 19, 2013 10:42 am

The whole, st davids cross complete logo change. A variety of kits including an orange away kit, a green kit, a black and yellow kit,a red away kit. He did it all unopposed?

Hammam took the club to the brink and is still sticking his oar in, Tan has plough cash to put us in the best position we've been in for many years.

Good points there. Many clubs have "rebranded" and others haver gone bankrupt to avoid paying their debts, but nothing is said about that.

i think at the time there was to much love in for anyone to see what was going on!

Im not a Sam supporter, actually quiete the opposite.

I wasnt a great fan of changing the crest, but the Bluebirds stayed as our symbol and our home colours werent changed. away kit colours can vary big time, i didnt like the orange away kit either and didnt buy it. but our prime colours were blue and white not red.

cant call it a rebrand what Sam did, just a crest-change. was glad when we changed back tho...

Sam came when we were blue with the Bluebird. He left with us blue and the Bluebird.

Guys like Sam have visions and did try to change things but retracted......that is the difference.

Putting the rebrand and personalities to one side.

Tan has the money to see it through if he wishes

Sam didnt

Can't really say Hamman rebranded the club as the home kit remained blue but he changed badge but we remined as the bluebirds and was prominent on the St Davids cross badge

As for away kits we had red before in the 80's & 90's

People will sleep a lot easier if he makes good his promisse to turn the historical debt into equity which was one of the conditions of the rebrand and subsequent investment

Hated this st David's badge more than the current personally.

Putting aside the fact it looked like a leeds badge we are Cardiff city and it should always say that on the badge, that is the minimal requirement of a badge for me.

Bluebirds is a nickname people use, we are the bluebirds and it must remain on the badge tho.

There was no need to replace the original one in the first place .....god knows what Hamman was thinking when he did this

Totally agree.
Our real crest is amazing, a proper badge.
SAMs one looks like a Horrible Leeds badge
Our current one looks like something done on Microsoft paint in a lunch hour.

Sam's original plan was for us to play in green, & change our name to the Cardiff "Celts". The view being that the the club would encompass the whole of Wales. This, in my view, was probable part of his earlier original master plan of re locating Wimbledon FC from London to either Cardiff or Dublin.

He also wanted to change the badge. All very radical at the time.

The green, orange, red etc shirts were all second or third kits,,,which were not deemed a problem back then.

If Tan does one and fucks the Club up and says "i made a mistake" he will be totally
and utterly battered from pillar to post by everyone. Hated forever. Despised.

Am i right??

I think the point of the o/p is. Why isnt Sam??

Strangely not bothered by the rebrand,i think it's because i'm just releived we're not called Cardiff celts.

Badges and away kit colours have changed at nearly every club in the UK.

You can't compare that to what Tan has done to us.

Terrific. But his 'visions' are the very reason this Club was hours away from extinction

Correct, or incorrect?

His vision would have been palettable had he said

"I'm planning to do X,Y and Z. To get to that next level, Cardiff City will need to borrow
money, but the end result will mean Premiership football and a new ground, and a clear
balance sheet"

He lied. The "romantic visionary" image died a long time ago. If not for Tan, Cardiff City
would have died along with it!!
