Maynard's injury a blessing?.

Mon Feb 18, 2013 12:57 pm

I was thinking as it looks like we will be playing Premiership football next season and will need quality throughout the team was Maynard's injury a bit of a blessing in disguise?.

Based on the fact that we may never have needed another striker this season if Maynard was fit did Malkey believe his hand had been forced in signing another striker of the Maynard ilk,as I would imagine the signing of Fraizer Campbell would have been a non starter and suspect he would have signed for a top Championship ( Hull being an example)or lower Premiership team last month .

Now as I see it the signing of Campbell in regards to the unfortunate circumstances of Maynrds injury albeit further into the season than anticipated has created a pleasant scenario as with a fully fit Maynard and Campbell it looks like Cardiff have a very good young talented frontline either playing together or as a like for like replacement and would not look out of place in the Premiership .

So for a fraction of the Austin, Graham fees and the other names being banded about last month coupled with the injury of Nicky Maynard at the beginning of the season Frazier Campbell could well contribute to a very good attacking frontline in the Premiership next season .

or look at the other side of the coin. Neither are young, both are injury prone, and neither have done it in the premier league really.

doesnt mean they wont of course, but personally i think we will need another striker next season.

Routledge couldn't cut it in the Prem before but he's doing well now ... Anything could happen, I think with first team football Campbell could do a good job!

I think they could both cut in the Prem with us. Both are goalscorers and we have plenty of players who can create goals
