Today was a watershed for Cardiff for me off the pitch!

Hearing the stories about some of the Bristol City contingent smashing up pubs and fighting with the police reminds me when we had a small club mentality like them. April 30th 2000 Stoke V Cardiff. We had got promoted the previous season from division 3 to Division 2, but had struggled all season and were almost relegated by the time we played Stoke at the end of the season. All season everyone had been looking forward to going to the Britannia hadn't played them for years a big club with top players and club who had the reputation of a top hooligan firm. Cardiff turned up on mass and chaos pursued before, during, and after the game with the police, with our relegation also being confirmed that day. For those of us who were there how can you forget Andy Legg trying to take a corner with police horses on the pitch and on the corner flag where he was trying to take it from!

Bristol in a relegation battle not much to cheer about this season planning refused for the new stadium, the only thing their fans had to look forward to for the rest of the season was a day out with one of their closest rivals Cardiff! top of the league good squad big crowds and a reputation for liking a fight.

Today while some of the Bristol Contingent wreaked havoc among themselves , the police, and the away pub (probably spoil it for other teams coming to Cardiff now smashing up the away pub) Our boys who were out in numbers showed how far they have come. On the whole stayed out of the way supported the team and kept the good reputation the club has built up over the last few seasons with its good behavior. Well done to you all great restraint and made me very proud to be a bluebird

They are tools anyway because Cardiff is full of CCTV and I mean full of it like no other city. They will be easily identified and they will do time purely because the case will be linked with football.

Was in the great western after the game and was told by the doorman that it was a few kids who wrecked the toilets so they shut the pub was definatly NOT smashed up

I was at that game in 2000, completely mental from start to end. The next time we went up we had to go through a f*cking metal detectors at the RV point. Madness.

Well obviously didn't mean London as its much bigger. Bit over the top my comment but I think its a bit obvious that I was talking about cities closer in terms of population. Cardiff has a ridiculous amount considering its size.

I remember that Stoke fiasco, and numerous other apalling away games over the years, but thankfully we have aged well and gradually controlled ourselves far better with the help of some really good organisation.

Great western was closed after the game. I looked through the windows tho and no damage. Must have opened later on.
I was up in Stoke. Everything seemed to be going so well untill half time when they opened up the gates and let in the thousands outside without tickets. Next thing i know there was stewards bouncing down the steps and us flooding out onto the pitch cos of so many people
