The club amaze me at times, up until now there has been a deafening silence over McNaughton's contract renewal. It appears he is on his way out. I know he's injury prone at the best of times and his form can be patchy, but on his day he's a quality defender and is surely a good option to have as backup should we reach the PL. If they let McNaughton go it will look even more ridiculous given we gave Lappin an 18-month contract, to essentially train with the team because he's very very average. Surely it made more sense to give Lappin a contract until this summer and give McNaughton another season!!!

Kev McNaughton has given everything for this club, perhaps burnt himself out a bit recently... and i think he deserves another contract with us!

He'll play a big part in the run-in.

Doesn't necessarily mean that Malky rates him highly and is desperate for him to stay. It may be a performance / appearance related offer.

Kevin McNaughton set for talks with Cardiff City over new deal

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay hopes Kevin McNaughton signs a new contract at the club.
Talks between 30-year-old McNaughton and the club are imminent as the defender approaches the end of his current deal.
"That will be something that will be dealt with by the club and his representatives in time," said Mackay.
"He's been a smashing signing for the club and he's certainly someone we'll talk to and want to keep here."
After being a regular starter since joining Cardiff on a free transfer from Aberdeen in 2006, McNaughton has fallen down the pecking order in the second half of this season.
Matthew Connolly, signed from Queens Park Rangers in August, has been the preferred choice as the Bluebirds have opened a healthy lead at the top of the Championship table.
McNaughton has been limited to six starts since early November, but he started Cardiff last game, a goalless draw at Huddersfield, but was forced off early after second accidental blow to his head.
Connolly had been switched to centre-back to cover injured Ben Turner, who remains doubtful for Bristol City's visit to Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday in what will be only Cardiff's second home league game of 2013.
"To get back home again is good," said Mackay. "The stadium's rocking at the moment but the pitch makes a big difference.
"The last couple of pitches we've played on haven't been particularly good but ours is lovely so it's good to get back to our own stadium."

I hope he stays. He has shown so much loyalty to us it's about time that the club repay him with a contract that he really wants. Even if Kevin isn't playing he is good for depth in the squad so I say give him a 2 year contract Malky!

Understandable.

We recieved a lot of offers for McNaughton for a loan deal even though he weren't put up for sale or for loan.

We nearly accepted one of the offers but MM wanted to keep him. If we let him go on loan then the club who would of got him would have got the opition to have him on a free because he is out of contract.

Malky believes he will be sold for decent amound and we will need him.

The intrest we got from clubs will get us a few money if he signs a new contract.

Thought I'd pass this on.

Would be delighted to see a club legend such as SuperKev as a part of the squad next season. I am sure, given his versatility, that he has something to offer :malky:

Yep, he deserves a contract.

This is the first season where he hasn't deserved to be in the first XI but he's still a real asset to the squad.

Already agreed to hook up with the Jones brigade @ the Owls, 2 yr deal.

Good servant, enjoy the promotion party Kev but just not good enought for the next level
