Has the RED killed it?

Fri Feb 15, 2013 7:38 am

Reading some interesting posts lately that this seasons success doesn't feel the same as success with the blue shirt. I guess it's a bit like cheating on championship manager, cool to experience but not really the same satisfaction. A lot of the excitement and emotional connection to the club seems to have ebbed away in a lot of people. Give Peterborough £100 million and they could have done exactly the same.

I think it's a shame that Tan has stolen the joy of a team getting to the Prem after such a long wait from a lot of genuine fans, as it will never feel the same if it happens again in the future. The joy of promotion that the club has earned with its own identity and colours is not even imaginable.

To see this Malaysian, red shell of a club getting what the blue Cardiff have always dreamed of is a little sad IMO.

I feel sorry for people that think that way.

For me it will be about my home city getting to the top flight and I cannot wait :malky:

it does not make any difference what colour we play in when Cardiff score i still get the same feelings i did 30 years ago that will never change.i would still like us to play in blue but we not.to compare us to Peterborough shit ground shit support Peterborough couldn't get in our position with 150 mill spent on them.we are in the best position we been in for years so just enjoy it, get lost in the football and forget what colour we are playing in enjoy the success of CARDIFF CITY :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Quite a sad post, Saint Lemmon, and I'm not convinced you are a Cardiff City supporter

The RED (as you call it) has soothed the ego of the man who put many more £millions into saving and advancing our beloved club and unfortunately it HAS to be seen as a SMALL price to pay in comparison to SOME of the alternatives, e.g. possible 'folding' of our club or a rebirth like Rangers (or hopefully for them, Pompey) where they come back fro the ashes and are (whatever the PRETEND to be) NEW CLUBS ;)

I've heard SOME (not many DID in reality) say on here that they would 'walk away' IF the Red kit came to fruition. Well, IT'S HERE and not many lived up to their words (although about 70 stuck to their guns; A LOT FOR PERSONAL REASONS OTHER THAN THE RED/BLUE ISSUE, TRUST ME ;) ) and it's not likely to happen now we are looking good for promotion, is it?

This is a well worn topic now and the Red is here (for VT's tenure at least) so reluctantly accept it and, if you ARE a Cardiff fan, realise (like most have) that is is STILL the Cardiff City FC we know and love, it is STILL the players and management that have evolved in recent years to take us to the brink of the Premiership and it is NOT some PHOENIX that has risen through the ashes like Rangers, Pompey and (probably worse of all) Milton Keynes Dons ;)

Noithing you can do about it(except stir it up and whinge, of course  ) UNLESS YOU HAVE A SPARE £100 MILLION HANGING AROUND THE HOUSE  ) and I rather think there are more important things to concentrate on at the moment; LIKE BEING POSITIVE AND CHEERING ON THE MANAGER AND PLAYERS TO THE PREMIERSHIP!! ;) ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Although the rebrand has'nt sat easy with me, I still feel its still my club (at the moment). the current team, feel to me far more committed to the cause than DJ'S team.

Last year we no doubt overracheived and were knackerfed by the end of the season.

Yes we have spent money on players (not £100m). But lets be fair they have all added to the club with no visible ego problems.

So do I feel any potential promotion would be tarnished by Red?

No.

Still wont wear Red though

Just my opinion just like the O.P

The cheating on championship manager is a good analogy, I'm enjoying the success, telling people how great we are but in the back of my mind wishing we had done it differently.

I won the champions league with Stockport county on championship manager because I tampered with the amount of money they had. It was fun but soon got bored

However me winning the Championship with Rushden and diamonds done properly was far more satisfying.

Its the same cardiff city ive supported for over 40 years

Re: Has the RED killed it?

Well lets look at the facts shall we.

Tan beleives that Red will see us into the Prem and make us more Prosperous (Seeing as we are currently sitting top of the championship and once again on the doorstep of the prem, with potential record sales in season tickets, I'd say he is being proved right for the time being).

No one wanted Red Except Tan, many (myself included) have reluctantly accepted Red for the sheer fact of Team harmony. We wouldn't be top of the league if there had been a complete refusal and demonstrations by the fans during games.
We're lead to beleive that Vinny has accepted he went about it the wrong way and is willing to incorporate Blue back into the fold (on some level) and although it won't be enough in some people's eyes,in mine it's a MASSIVE breakthrough for us fans, into what I a notoriously stubborn businessman man.

Personally I have always supported City and I couldn't care what colour they play in.

As long as we're called Cardiff City Football Club then "I'LL BE THERE".

I wasn't comparing. I just made the point Peterborough would also be promoted if they took out a medium interest £100m loan. And naturally their support would also grow as a result so that comparison it's very good either. Cardiffs average attendance was around 4,000 for decades before Sam came with his money bags, and now Tan,

you believe that is because the shirt colour is red?

so you are willing to accept that demonstrations would have stopped the rebrand, but you and others put being top of the championship ahead of Cardiff retaining their identity colour and badge?

even though all Cardiff sides down to the under 9s have been stripped of everything blue and told not to wear it?

thats an amazing statement, it really is. Try changing the colour of liverpools shirt to blue, see what the reaction is,,,,.

The Tradition is We're called Cardiff City.
The History is We're the only club in the world to take the Most Famous domestic trophy on the planet, out of its residing country.(Not even Real Madrid can claim that one).

Seriously though MellonHead, if you had stated this post, BEFORE you created a post suggesting we create a big banner saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT TAN" then you may of had a bit more credibility.

I mastered irony mate... But the banner wasn't really ironic or funny.
Most people don't read every topic they will often look at the title and author then choose to read or not.
For those who don't read it will only see that you have started two threads, 1 saying we should get a banner for tans Bday, the other saying he has destroyed our club.

Hypothetically speaking,
Had Tan not Invested where would we be now?

Sorry. I think you are in a minority. I have no such feelings and neither do my friends and family who are enjoying City's challenge this season.
As for comparing a real life situation to a computer game, that is what I find a little sad.
Maybe many of our younger fans have been conditioned to think that you can get what you want or change a situation with a click of a mouse.
I've waited 45 years for City to be in the top flight and if it happens I wont let the colour of a shirt detract from my elation.
