Hosted a meeting of business people at CCS yesterday and part of the event saw Julian do a presentation on the club. It was an eye opening experience, to be honest. City is my passion so I was always going to give the story a thumbs up.
But listening and watching where we have come from in he last 20/30 years to the opportunity we have now really drove home the efforts and successes of the City family, on and off the pitch, management and fans. The club winning prestigeous awards from under the noses of Arsenal, Man Utd et al.
We really are at the start of where many of us old timers have thought for decades we we should be at. The old chestnut about our catchment area (even though Swansea Town never mustered a challenge to that, over our past!) will soon be put to the test. We will, indeed, need many more seats.
Heady stuff.
It's been a Hell of a journey. Brighton to Carlisle. Plymouth to Hartlepool. Crewe and Tranmere, seemingly every week!!
The bad old days. The craic. The new friends. People in your 'family' you backed away without knowing them....because they were in 'your family'. The highs of QPR at MillStad..........to so, so low of Ali's keep off the pitch!!
We have so much ready to progress this club, our passion, further along the road.
Bigger than Barcelona? Maybe not. But we beat Liverpool and Arsenal at the Nou Camp to win the Customer Experience Award, beating off all other sports venues from all over Europe!!
The journey is not finished...............and it should be fun travelling the rest of it!!
