THAT LOSS TO MACCLESFIELD

Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:46 pm

I appreciate that some of our fans were hurt at the loss against Macclesfield but do you think that if we had drawn that game and won the replay it would have been beneficial for us?

Since that defeat we have drawn against Ipswich and Huddersfield and beaten Blackpool and Leeds.

We were 7 points clear of 2nd place when that cup game was played and now we are 11 clear.

We have had no replays to consider, the players had a weekend with no game as a result and also managed to get a weeks warm weather training in when the country was gripped by snow.

I still stand by my thoughts that Malky played it exactly right against Macclesfield and we are reaping the rewards.

Definitely agree.

We will never know if we could have done both, be 11 points clear AND have a cup run, but I'm not sure I'd want to take the chance.

Leicester could end up in extra time tonight and already have another game cancelled from Saturday whether they make the next round or not.

Cup runs are great but 9 times out of 10 they are a distraction. Last seasons run to carling cup final was a welcome distraction as we weren't good enough to go up and the experience of Wembley etc has benefited the squad and the club in terms of finance and attracting new players.

This season giving the kids an opportunity was good and whilst i hate ccfc losing I'm sure we are better off out of the cups.

With the heart break of stripping our identity I would of hoped in return we would have had a squad to compete in all competitions. I love the cup competitions and some of my best memory's watching Cardiff have been cup games.

I would always want promotion first but hurt that we didn't even make an effort in the f.a cup

I can understand your sentiments Baz but rebranding aside this season is all about promotion to the PL.

We need to be in the PL at the start of next season, no ifs or buts.

Same as a Welsh friendly. Treat as a distraction, have a good day out if you go and don't give a flying fxxk about the result.

I really find it stupid how people say we disrespected the cup? Are you deluded?

These youngsters are at this club and some are getting paid a wage.. They are supposed to be playing at a level of the Championship.. So basically their a young version of the team we got now.

Using youngsters for a cup game is no disrespect and they are meant to be the future to play in the Championship.

Its a chance for players who are not getting a look in on the bench to prove their worth.

Basically the tools are saying its disrespectful are happy for players to turn up for training and pick up wage, mind boggles.

IMHO Malky played it exactly right. We can have all the cup runs we want when we are in the Premiership - but this year we need to concentrate 100% on getting there with no distractions.

Yes we might need prem football but if we got a 2nd upcomming string who can not beat a bottom tier part time side then what hope we got of putting these players out again vs better teams but lesser in leagues than us. :malky:

If. When we get promoted I hope we get knocked out in the first round of both cups next year. Survival in the top league is all that matters.

I've been a Cardiff City fan since 1976 and I wasn't too bothered about the Macc defeat and I was there. I enjoyed Nat Jarvis's goal, which was scored right in front of me and I was hoping he'd lead us to victory but he couldn't do it on his own.

The truth is, for me, only promotion matters this season. We HAVE to go up.

I was at macclesfield and at the time was disappointed malky didnt put a stronger side out, it clearly was for the best looking back now
One of our main rivals leicester played a couple of extra games and lost at home to huddersfield last night.Has it benefited them in anyway?

Spot on Carl. There were a lot of knee jerk reactions during that time and I genuinely think that if we had progressed in the FA cup..it might have fucked up our momentum of the league! Look at Leicester!! :ayatollah: :malky:
