You'll be fine. Its not rocket-science.

I can't give any advice, but let us know how it goes. I'm thinking of doing it in Uni in the future

If it's anything like the standard test it'll be made up of four parts.
It'll just be a booklet which you fill out with a pencil or black pen and have to answer A,B,C or D. They're all things like mechanical concepts such as;
If you want to move the object to the right which lever do you pull etc. is one of the sections.
Another will be flatpack cardboard boxes and what shape they make.
It's all simple stuff you just have to be switched on and make sure to double check what you're doing.
I did half a dozen of these a few summers ago. Should only take about 20 minutes for each section iirc.

Cheers everyone!

It's like the test Will Smith does in Men in Black 1, so drag the table across to you to write etc etc

Yes these are the exact sort of things that I did. Pretty simple really, just make sure you're paying attention.

Just remember theres often no right or wrong answer in the questions.Its just that a salesman would answer the questions differently to an engineer or an office clerk etc.What they are looking for is to proflie you.So if your the type of person that doesn't mind cutting corners to get the job done then your probably not cut out to make an engineer.My daughter uses these tests to profile people in her job to assertain where peoples strengths and weaknesses are and they are pretty accurate.The bottom line is people that fix aircraft engines for a living need to fit a certain type of person.What you do in your leisure plays a big part too.

make sure you can do maths the old fashion way on paper no calculator ,cos some like to see your working out ,another thing there is a pass mark so you could answer all the questions right but not answered enough and fail ie only answered say 15 out of 20 on one paper and say 13 on another so try and answer as many as pos and if you dont know any dont spend ages on it leave it and carry on then come back to it at the end and guess if you have to ,you dont get marked down for wrong answers ,my missis used to do these for new employees in her old job .

How did it go?

I've done many of these tests, I did an apprenticeship at RAF St Athan, worked for British airways in Cardiff, I'm starting in GE as an engineer soon. I've also got a degree in aircraft maintenance engineering. The tests I've done have been fairly standard, there's always some sort of English test, a reasoning test, a maths test, and a practical test. Mainly based on dngineering, things like pistons moving in certain directions, where is the highest pressure etc. thd practical for me every time was the wire test, you are given a piece of locking wire and a diagram, you have to bend the wire into a triangle then twists then a circle then twists and lastly a square with the ends of the wire touching, there have been other things suck as picking up 4 little rods with 1 hand, positioning them in a pyramid shape with 1 hand, things like that. It's not hard, just don't rush, you will have more time than you think. Hope this helps

Went well cheers lads, didn't really find any of it that challenging, there was a fifty mark mechanical reasoning section(nothing too tricky), 50 mark spatial awareness (bit trickier but still not stupidly hard) and then a 50 mark numeracy test (really basic numeracy) feeling confident but with the sheer volume of applicants I'm not getting excited
