Kevin McNaughton DEAL

Mon Feb 11, 2013 9:24 am

After showing his hunger and desire to do well for his club on Saturday, by going into 2 challenges that he knew he was going to get clattered, I feel that he's such a good servant and grafter that we need to keep him. He's now a Cardiff favourite in my opinion and, even if it was a bit part role, he deserves a deal due to his loyalty to the club. I think it's time the club showed him some loyalty back.

No room for sentiment in football.

No room for sentiment mate, His bravery is there for all to see but football ability wise he no longer has it.
Saturday another example when we have possession he gives it straight back to them.We need better for the next level.
A great servant for the club no question about that. :ayatollah:

kevs not totally finished,he was good against palace and blackpool but a full back that can pass and cross the football will surely be top of malkys shopping list next season

He reminds me of Rhys Weston now. Nervy at home, and loves to pass to an opposition shirt.

I feel Kev will be on his way at the end of the season, who knows, he may even move back home? He's reached that age/point in his career where he has already peaked.

But I will be eternally grateful for what he has given our club, a true worker, a fans favourite, and one we will ALWAYS remember up there with the big legendary names.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, but the last thing I want to see is him having a new arse-hole ripped every week in the prem. Then all that sentiment would evaporate and I wouldn't want to see Kev go through that. He's still got 3-4yrs at the correct level.

If we go up I reckon Malky will want to bring in 5 or 6 better quality players. To fit them into the permitted squad of 25 players aged 21 or over, we will have to get rid of 7or 8 current players as we now have 27 players in that age bracket. Only 4 player's contracts expire this summer - Kev, Heidar, Earnie and McPhail. None of them are good enough and all will have to go to make room. Interesting question is who else will go. Obvious candidates are Kiss, Lappin and Gestede. If we need to find more, the candidates for me would be Cowie, Conway, Velikonja and, possibly, Smith. A lot of people might include Taylor in the list but I wouldn't and I don't think Malky would either.

So because he took a clattering for the team he deserves a new deal?, he was poor up until that point and i was actually thinking he would be subbed at half time. His distribution is so poor he would struggle in an under 5's game.

Connolly is now playing at right back. With Super Kev on the bench and not being a regular as much as he was, His fitness had dropped. When fully fit and in form he's the most reliable right back in this division.

He's worth keeping for his ability to play anywhere in the back four. He might not be the greatest passer but he's good enough for a sqaud place as back up

i dont think he can cut it at PL level. the amount of times he gives the ball away at the moment is bad enough, let alone playing against far more dangerous opposition who punish mistakes much more harshly.

he's been a good servant for the club, but malky is pragmatic and i think he will be a sub at best if we go up next year.

I still feel he has something to offer us.

I'd been surprised at the amount of criticism Super Kev had received, until I saw him at Macclesfield and then I realised it's time for him to go.

He's been great for us for years and got my vote for Player Of The Season a number of times, but his days are numbered with us. Sad, but true.
