Ryan Giggs record breaker

Still flying the flag for Wales, what a Record

GOAL- Man Utd 1-0 Everton - Ryan Giggs (13 mins)
That Robin van Persie miss won't matter so much now. He turns provider here, making the most of some hesitant defending by Johnny Heitinga to advance into the area and tee up Ryan Giggs to coolly roll the ball home, via the post. Giggs has now scored in every Premier League season, which is a pretty amazing stat seeing as it has been going on for more than 20 years.

Yup, he could have done so much more for Wales.
I'd still have him back mind.

He's never flown the flag for Wales. He's Mancunian through and through.

I was told that he said once that both his parents, and all 4 grandparents are Welsh born, So he could not play for anyone else, even if he wanted to.

Is there any record for most consecutive seasons scoring, post war or something?

Not 100 per cent sure , but I thought his mother was English . from the Manchester area. which is why he changed his name from Wilson to Giggs , when his parnets split up and she went back to that area. But I could be wrong. He did Captain the English Schoolboys team at under 14/15 level , then he chose to play senior football for Wales.

Actually got that bit wrong about his mum , she is welsh , but went to live in Manchester when Danny Wilson signed for Swinton Rugby League.

Schoolboy internationals are not based on nationality, but on where the school is based. So a Welsh kid in a school in England would play for Englands schools, and vice versa.
I thought his dad went to play for Salford RL team and that is why the family moved there. When his parents split up, and his father moved back to Cardiff, his mother (and Ryan) stayed up there. He used his mothers name Giggs, as he did not get on with his father, but initially when playing for England schools he was still Wilson.

What I was told anyway. Need someone ITK to confirm. Heard his father is not trustworthy, and disliked everywhere he went. Maybe why Rhodri (Ryans brother) turned out like he did, as a bit of a nutter.

Fairplay to him, playing continually for 23 years in one of the most famous sides in his sport ,winning everything available to him with that club not once, but numerous times, playing in 30-40 games a season most of them years in one of the most physically demanding positions on the pitch, for a manager who has ruthlessly dismantled and rebuilt his side several times over that period, and in all that time has managed to be part of them rebuilt teams. He even got voted as uniteds greatest ever player by the fans...that's some fuking accolade considering the amount of legends they've had at there club over the years! Imo (even though he couldn't be arsed with his country most the time) he's one of the best sportsmen of all time

He could have only have played for wales.

He moved up north as his dad was a pro rugby league player and moved to a team up there. Obv his dad was Mr wilson not giggs. He captained england schoolboys as Ryan Wilson and like said already on here its about where you go to school not where you're born.

I can confirm it as I've had his autobiography for years and read it a good few times....very good read if you get a copy.

I'm sure I remember watching some program and it showed a massive welsh dragon tiled into the bottom of his swimming pool.

He made 50+ appearances for us, that's good enough for me. Better than having a player who isn't born and bred in Wales leading us out.

Boycott Wales!
