cardiff and newport city merger?

Fri Feb 08, 2013 6:56 pm

Debated on bbc wales news. Newport council getting twitchy about more homes being built in east cardiff green belt. They are worried about losing newports distinct culture and identity??
Surely it could only benefit the port? Would you want it?

Nah, it would be like losing money and just getting the benefit of a shitter area lobbed onto the side of our beautiful city! No offence Newport! :ayatollah:

As a Newportonian myself, the way Newport has been going over recent times, I wouldn't mind it.
It would be like Salford and Manchester I suppose.

I think the council are looking to shift people from tremorfa, st mellons and llanrumney more to the east to redevelop the east side of Cardiff. Some of the decent folk will obviously move to the slightly more affluent areas of Cardiff but the chavs etc will be moving closer and closer to Newport. I'm not sure what Newport council is worried about as most of the west side of Newport is full of chavs anyway, saying that most of Newport is full of chavs ain't it bra

I lived in Splott, not half as bad as it used to be, havent ventured into Trowbridge for a long time, last time I was there wasn't great mind.... I work in Cathays, nothing wrong with it! Just full of students and shoplifters! Canton aint too bad either!

C'mon! compare these places to Tremorfa and Newport.....

This won't happen, they need to keep a green belt between the two cities.
