What if?

Wed Feb 06, 2013 9:49 pm

We win this division by 15 pts, could we go into administration take the ten point hit and wipe off our debt, could this be done?
What are your thoughts on this.

Wouldn't they make us start in the premier league on minus 10points then? Not sure lyk

Re: What if?

dont think the league would allow it tbh, would they? and like people have said, our debts are to big to go into administration, it would be liquidation!

im no expert on club finances so probably going to be proved wrong

No.

If we go up we will have more than enough to pay off the debts.

we wont! most money will go on wages, new signings, improving the club! there wouldnt be much left to pay off the debts! if were to stay up for a few seasons then maybe!

The unsecured debt will only be a small percentage of the total now so it wouldn't be worth it even if it was that simple.

Think of all the other ways of income. Sponsors etc.

Not saying that'd get rid of it all but it could go a fair way.

I agree with this, I'd expect us to at least break even in the premiership possibly paying Tans £5m interest per year off so his debt doesn't increase. However, if we spend £12m on stadium expansion or £10m on training ground or £15-£20m on Langston then I'd definitely expect us to make a loss. So I don't think debt will increase in premiership but hopefully maintained at the £80-£90m mark.

sponsors, tv money would mainly go on the increased wages, transfer fees and agent costs! money left over would probably go on decreasing the clubs loses every month! we might not add to the debt in the prem but most probably wont be able to pay it off!

This is a good article showing premier clubs wage bill and turnover. Take stoke for example £67m turnover £47m wages, add transfer fees and other costs plus Tans interest on to the £47m and it doesn't leave much. The TV money is increasing but not enough to make a big dent in the £80-£90m debt especially with possibility of langston, stadium and training ground costs.

Fecking hell, Villa's turn over 92mil, wage bill 83mil.

and there's your answer BlueSince82 :ayatollah: we might not pay off the debt but we wont be making to much larger!

nuts tbh, how clubs who pay that much in wages are struggling i dont know!... hate to say it but swansea are the example of how a club (at present) should be run financially!

the langston issue needs to be sorted first sadly! its quite obvious sam is waiting til we go up so he can demand more money that what he first wanted!

yes that's been obvious for some time but I have no doubt it will be sorted one way or other! but not for us to worry about as it concerns sam and vt via club!

Re: What if?

What debts? Ours are mainly to our owners are they not??? Can they put us into admin?
£70 million for finishing bottom next season, makes Sam hamams 15 million look like nothing.

Would you? I wouldn't if I was in his position. I'd just enjoy the public exposure benefitting my businesses and not having to pay anymore money into the club.

yes they could but unlikely as they would get very little especially sam as hes down pecking order for money as his is unsecured or so been said on here!

right can someone explain to me cos im not exactly clear on what we owe..

how much do we actually owe langston? (if known)
when is the date to repay it up?
and what does everyone mean by 'the notes are unsecured'?

mmm 19 mil maybe depends on who you listen to! 2016 is final date to pay them, loan notes have to ask accountant but from what I can see were very dodgy at time as surrounded in mystery as to who they belong to individually as langstone just a front !

god knows ( I think?) all can do is wait until someone says deal done, obviously something not ok or it would have been sorted long time ago, but like said leave it up to the two protaganists! :malky:
