Next seasons transfer budget - players in/out

Wed Feb 06, 2013 6:44 pm

Lets do a bit of speculating in regards to next season.

If we go up this season, what sort of transfer budget do you think Malky will be given? Perhaps we could consider the fact he was given £10 million last summer, but only spent minimally in January.
If we were to go up who do you think, of the current first team regulars would be offloaded?
and lastly if you could pick 3 players to bring in, who would you get, be realistic in terms of budget and the likelihood they would sign for a newly promoted club.

Or

If we were not promoted, do you think we could hold this squad of players together? If not who do you think would fancy a transfer to perhaps one of the promoted teams?? Would Malky get any sort of budget in this circumstance?

₤17 - ₤20 million if we're promoted I think.

We may offload players such as Taylor etc. (I like him mind)

I think a clever £5m - £10m should do it. There would be a LOT of players of free's who we could approach.

Realistically, I'd love to see Will Hughes at Cardiff. He'd be worth a cheeky approach and could only cost £3m with lots of add-on clauses.

Gavin, I know we have done amazing this season, but I honestly believe at least 10 of our current squad wont be god enough in the Premier League next season, I know a lot will disagree with me on this because of how well we have done this season.

if we go up i think you will see us drop 10mill on a player
who'd have ever believed!!

I think Malky will be given/would spend £10-£15 million. There will obviously be a few out the door certainly Earnie & possibly Helguson & Cowie.

I'd expect at least as much as last year but probably not much more. We could probably spend £12m again and break even next year or even make a profit. That won't happen if we spend money on training ground or stadium expansion though.

I think we will need about 7 new players GK, DR, DL, DC, MC, ACx2 it would be nice to spend £3-£4m per player but we can probably get some good players on free transfers.

a team who works as hard as ours will get points in the prem! we need about £10m to bring in quality players who stand out, mainly in defence and midfield, but the players we have now should be kept if we went up! everyone complains about the depth in the squad, so keep what we got! they also deserve to get a chance impress if they take us up, simple as that!

I reckon we could have anything up to £30 million.

Tan won't want us to fall back down again and I think he'd be quite keen for Malky to bring in some more big names to raise our profile some more.

Would love to see a cheeky bid for Ramsey on loan or otherwise :D

I agree when we step up a division our fringe players will not be up to it. There will be quite a few players out of contract and players from relegated sides looing for a return to the EPL those types of players I'm sure Malky won't touch with a barge pole.

Not stalking you Annis :D but would you have said dyer , routledge ,britton , ashley williams and angel rangel plus few others would be good enough for the premiership?
I think with more time/space on the ball the likes of turner, connoly , noon , smith , bellamy , mason ,kimbo ,maynard and campbell plus a few others will thrive and the premiership is less physical :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I know this might sound a bit mad but I agree with you on this, I think Bellamy will be a big player for us in the premiership again cos he shines more in the prem, like you say more time and space on the ball and in the championship it can seem like he can't show us his full ability all the time because he can always be hounded by players

Those players, Routledge aside, had played together for several seasons playing generally the same system and passing style of football while continually improving both individually and as a team.

From what I've read on here and the few times I've seen you play on Sky, you're more of a hard working team who usually play very direct rather than a possession based side? For that reason I think you will find it more difficult if you get promoted.

Also, I don't think players get more time on the ball in the PL. It may seem that way sometimes but only because they have the class to make it look so easy.

I may be wrong of course.

good post! we definately need to stop playing hoofball and play to our strengths where we have fast pacy forwards who have pace and trickery! we havent exactly got a target man have we?

I thought about this and even though he played like 5-15 games for us I think we lost a real gem of a midfielder.

Please give it up for Solomon Taiwo.

Played for over 10 clubs and currently playing for Bromley.

Unfairly treated and could walk into this team easily right now.

DJ might get slated for this signing but the day I made my first trip to the CCS, I had the pleasure of watching this man mountain like Yaya Toure which is Taiwo.

We won 3-1 but if the Daggerz had a team of Taiwos we would have been embarassed.

I hope we might bring back one day because this guy will always be remembered by us Bluebirds.

He makes Gunnarsson look like a cricket player.

I think some will agree and some won't but we lost a player who could have went on to play Champions League Football for Real Madrid, Dortmund even.. but we didn't give the games which could of seen him make a 40 million move.

It is sad to think how much money he could have brought to this club but life goes on and we will all look back thinking what we lost and just hope a player of his ability will come to us.

What i'm saying is if i was asked if dyer , routledge ,britton , ashley williams and angel rangel etc were good enough for the premiership i would have said not sure maybe they are just good championship players but they have stepped up another level which i believe quite a few of our present squad can do as a lot are still youngish :ayatollah:

Why 'speculate' BEFORE the job THIS season is done?

Great incentive for players to read this and think "F@@K me, the fans want me out before the season's even ended!!"

Getting a little ahead of ourselves on this one, I'm afraid guys and need to COMPLETE the job first, surely? :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Your probably right, but if thats the case Malky will need a huge budget.I know Southampton spent 30m before a ball was kicked this season. We could raise 10-12m by player sales but I think we'd need a record breaking budget to make a dent in the league next season.

We need to keep nearly all of our squad and add 3-4 players who are real quality.

Think we have players on the same par as Swansea players but time will tell i guess.

Don't know why the above had to try and ruint he thread saying it's not the end of the season yet.

It's a bit of fun for members on the forum and just express who they want to see in a City shirt. Bloody hell, it's a forum thread for discussion. We're allowed to talk about who we'd want to see IF we do go up, it's called discussion

Or is there some rule that we're only allowed to talk about the past and present and not the future on this forum?

I'd like to see us bring Ramsey back, I'd like to see Jack Collisson and Adam Le Fondre too.

Totally agree with this, we need to think about future players! But before we get them we need experience maybe hoolahan? Shelvey? Collision? <0>
