It's not all about work ethic

Tue Feb 05, 2013 9:25 am

Most can see that Malky has built an admirable work ethic within in our club. But is it enough to compete at the next level ?
Should the club be looking at casting out its scouting infrastructure into Europe ?
The Jacks have proven one thing, in that there are bargains out there if you have the right connections .

I can ere you say " Rome wasn't built in a day " This is true , but If your not prepared to look forward then don't be surprised when you have to step back. :old:

I can ere you say " Rome wasn't built in a day "And you wern't on that job anyway This is true , but If your not prepared to look forward then don't be surprised when you have to step back. :old: No reason to suspect the club is not looking forward besides this is an argument for another day(if and when we get there).

People like David Beckham think it is, as does Christiano Ronaldo - both work their socks off to be as good as they can.

If you mean should we look beyond the 'British' model then I think Malky is intelligent enough to know how to do that, and indeed has done that up to a point. I could see us getting a creative midfielder in or a proven goalscorer not on the UK radar, if and when we get to the next level.

No club can get out of this league without a huge dose of hard work however good they are. As shown with Ronaldo and Beckham, hard work does not preclude star quality.

I use Beckham as an example as he is one of the very few British players to have played successfully abroad, even though he never had any pace.
