Parts of what is now classed as 'Greater' Cardiff was actually deemed part of ENGLAND for many years (including during the English Civil War)

The areas known as Marshfield and beyond to Newport, Chepstow, etc. were ENGLISH (part of Monmouthshire, I believe)

Cardiff itself, however, albeit a relatively minor town in pre-industrial days was NEVER part of England

Maybe the FA took that into account when allowing Newport County to stay in the English Pyramid System when Alun Evans tried to drag them down even further than they eventually went!!

Hmmm, was pretty disappointed in the end. One or two interesting bits but generally regurgitated stuff
