"I feel a player in the Heidar Helguson mould, but younger and taller, would compliment the players we have and the style of play Mackay adopts"

It's ok making statements like this but who exactly and why? And why taller? I assume a 442 from this, with a big target man? Who plays like this these days?

Part of me thinks we should be going out after players that can hold their own in the premiership and breaking the bank.
But the other part of me is a lot more cautious and sides with Malky in that why upset the squad make up that has got us this far. Those that can remember my posts will know that I had concerns at the beginning of the season that Malky could keep everyone happy in a large squad . I think the Conway situation may have changed Malky's stance.
Has the saying goes ...If its not broken why change it ?

Looking ahead ,IF we do get to the prem I feel a lot of our players won't cut it and will eventually need to be replaced . It's a case of when ?
I think Cardiff need to give some serious thought on our we are going stay in that league . We should now be planning for the future and looking at players and how to increase the stadium capacity.

I am with Carl on this one... Heider has looked tired..he is 36yrs and thats understandable... Look at Miller the latter half of last season.

The grounds are still heavy you cant always do it with speed merchants.

In previous games where we have chased it a bit Malky has brought on Gestede ...who for me is not the answer ... and pumped high balls in... if we need to get the ball up there quickly ..a big strong forward who can hold it up or flick it on to Bellamy or FRAZIER would be beneficial. If Frazier or craig were injured or carrying a knock and need to come off I for one would prefer a good strong striker ..Helgusson has done well ..very well but why not plan for next year and get one in now... maybe on loan with a view to make it permanent in the summer?

I love all this malky should have done this malky should have done that bollocks that gets written.
Carl feels underwhelmed by the signings but cast your mind back a couple of januarys and we were signing jon parkin in the window. this window we sign a full england international for 600k
If we had been 10 points behind second place then im sure there would have been a lot more activity but the reality is that this squad is better and fitter than any of the previous sides under jones going into the final months of the season.
What players do you believe malky should have gone after bearing in mind that the likes of austin and brayford were never available for transfer.
all we read about lately is the players openly admitting there are no big time charlies in the squad and there is a togetherness within the team that has never existed in the previous seasons.
personally i think malky got it right we all clamoured for a replacement for maynard which he has done and we all wanted more defensive cover which he has also done.

I think its easy to be underwhelmed, but can anyone actually name a player who can improve the squad at the right price, right wage, would be interested in moving to cardiff and that the selling club would want to sell??? The players we want to replace our places just sadly are unattainable at this moment in time.

Someone described Heidar saying they want a younger version etc etc, but never put a name to it, not knocking the poster as i agree, but its very very hard to put a name to that description without sounding ridiculous by naming someone who wouldnt have a chance of us getting.

We had two problems that I could see. Our defence was iffy. The lads themselves have bucked their ideas
up and we look solid now. We still got cover in. Good move!!

We were also looking a little bereft of ideas up top. We get in a f*cking good striker!!

What else is Malky to do?

Spot on. January is a horrible time to sign players as most clubs wont want to sell. The players that generally go are the ones not needed by their clubs. Its better to wait for the summer to make the key signins

I think MM has got things spot on and whilst I can understand where Carl is coming from the one thing Malkay hasn't done is risk upsetting the dessing room, or the balance of the team, by bringing a load of new players in.

The thing about the signings of Campbell and Lappin that I like is that both players have recent experience of getting promoted from the Championship and that "been there, done it, got the teeshirt" will be invaluable over these last 18 games.

Also unlike other seasons the squad is not overloaded with loan players, and we all know where that has got us in the past.

What else could MM have done? Nothing in my mind. :malky: :malky: :malky:

Fraizer scores a good percentage of headers for a player his size. :ayatollah:

It's ok making statements like this but who exactly and why? And why taller? I assume a 442 from this, with a big target man? Who plays like this these days?

Height doesnt really count unless the feller is actually GOOD in the air. Look at
Rudy... Helguson wins more in the air than him. So does Mason come to think of
it. So does 'Tattoo' off Fantasy Island

"I feel a player in the Heidar Helguson mould, but younger and taller, would compliment the players we have."

Yeh - like:

"Oh that's a nice new haircut you've got Nooney."

"Lovely pair of gloves Rudy."

etc. etc.

I can understand spelling/grammatical mistakes in ordinary 'blog' posts - but in professional articles/publications where, presumably, there are proof-readers/sub-editors this sort of mistake should be spotted.

The transfer window was about strengthening the squad whilst being prudent, unfortunatley it is not about overwhellming fans.

As said above MM has got it spot on.

Can't really remember us doing loads in January, we now have genuine cover throughout the squad and have brought in a youngish proven scorer at this level who's a full England International, Lappin is familiar with the squad and adequate, not overwhelmed but certainly not under whelmed.
Fraizer Campbell is the final piece in the jigsaw :ayatollah:
