BELLAMY'S VIEW ON THE REBRAND

Mon Jan 14, 2013 12:39 pm

Taken from the Wales online site.
Bellamy arrived back at Cardiff from Liverpool after being released from his contract at Anfield in the summer and signed a two-year deal.

It was a controversial time for the Bluebirds with the club’s Malaysian backers, led by businessman Vincent Tan and chairman Dato Tan Tien Ghee, pushing through a rebrand which saw Cardiff’s traditional blue home shirts changed to red.

The club’s badge was replaced, too, to incorporate a dragon. It was a move which has divided supporters throughout this campaign.

Bellamy, who used to watch the Bluebirds from the Bob Bank at Ninian Park as a youngster, said he could understand people’s views, but he believed the move had secured the club’s future.

“The connection between us as players and the people we represent as supporters is a true connection. I’ve probably not witnessed it at most clubs, to be honest,” said Bellamy.

“When it comes to the colours you have to be sensitive to issues and sensitive to people’s views, but give me another £10million, and I will wear another colour.

“This club has to be around for the city. It’s about the club first. It’s our existence, a chance for us to progress. If we can get promoted, imagine what it would do for us, for the shops and more.

“There is no league like the Premier League. The supporters it brings and the interest it brings. If we can do that no matter what colour we wear, people will appreciate the job Vincent Tan and TG have done.”

I think what he says is right and Without the investment we would have been screwed.
However I still believe we should be in Blue at Home and have the Bluebird!
Just my opinion. It will never stop me supporting Cardiff City wearing Red, but I will always say we should be in Blue with a Bluebird.
I would like to thank MrTan for saving our Club , and TG for all he has done to keep us Alive.

But please lets go back to Blue.

Well of course.

Didnt we hear the same last January?

"Malky has no money to spend, he's only lying about Noone and Sordell" :?

Anything negative coming out of the Club HAS to be true. Anything positive HAS
to be a lie.

Righto :(

Its all political Ian with a dictator pulling the strings. No one in their right mind who is being paid by the dictator is going to rock the boat. The club has been through difficult times with previous owners taking us to the brink of destruction. Now we have somebody who looks all but going down the oblivion line. So I can understand why the employees are happy to go along with it but for the life of me I just cannot understand why so many fans have.

Bellamy has quoted the security of the club is first. No argument there but why oh why does that mean turning red. Excluding the fact it is just one mans vision there is no logical reasoning behind it. I just can't believe some of us fans have bowed down to this. At the time people were saying Tan will leave if we reject the rebrand. The guy has already invested £40 million, billionaires dont throw that amount of money away. He was going nowhere and we as fans should have been united and stood our groud. Sadly a number of us fell for this and we are now known as a set of fans who sold out.

If we would have stood against this rebrand I personally believe we would still be playing in red. Tan would have got the message, rejected the appeal and carried on wih his vision. So looking how it is today there woud be very little change except for the fact the fans would not have te stigma of being sellouts.

A big difference between not speaking against it, and publicly coming out to fully support it, and if you know anything about Bellamy, you'd know he ain't the type to be coerced or pressurised to do anything against his will. :ayatollah:

He was asked his view on it & he has to tow the company line. It's simple.

He my agree on it, he may not. Either way, it would be foolish of him to come out and be critical of the setup.

But it would have been diplomatic of him and easy to say that as a player, he doesn't involve himself in the business and running of the club side of things, easy to side step if he so wished. :ayatollah:

Bellers said - "When it comes to the colours you have to be sensitive to issues and sensitive to people’s views, but give me another £10million, and I will wear another colour".
So basically money talks :ayatollah:
