Derby Fans Rate Brayford And Fear His Move To City!

Fri Jan 11, 2013 7:33 am

Be interesting to see if this move to Cardiff comes to fruition. There's probably no better time to go to Cardiff in fairness and if Brayford has Premier League aspirations and wants to quicken the process, this move would make sense for him.

It would be a blow for us. Brayford has been getting back to his best this season and is an important player for us. But I guess in some ways Clough prepared for this by signing the likes of O'Connor and Freeman and maybe selling Brayford would not only give those players a chance to make their mark but allow us to strengthen other areas of the squad too. So there's definitely upside if the price is right.

But honestly I would expect Brayford to stay. Clough gave him his opportunity at this level and you would hope Brayford would show loyalty to his manager and to the club by staying and seeing the project through. Then again, Cardiff are not short of a million or three, Clough might give his blessing if the price is right.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

I can't find any positive or 'upside' of selling your better players.

I think one of the main reasons we've been attacking so well is down to the Brayford + Coutts partnership, take Brayford away from that and that's pretty much our best attacking threat gone.

We NEED to keep Brayford.

Wouldn't sell him for a penny less than £3 million. We have a ready back up in Freeman who I think would be alright, and we've got O'Connor as well for backup to Freeman in Brayford was to leave. Buy a good striker and you've done well. A good right back won't get you promoted.

But we have a good balanced team, that are improving, therefore I'd rather keep him. I'd try and his extend his contract if possible.

Taken from Cardiff Forum:-
Derby have conceded to losing player after his agent confirmed he wont be extending his contract, agent has verbally agreed terms with Ian Moody (CCFC), Rams want 1.5m city, @ the moment CCFC have submitted opening offer of 750k......

Deal will be done @ 1m (including promo bonus, add ons)

Hope not correct

Just seen a few tweets from Cardiff saying he is about to sign. I certainly hope not. Rush said we do not need to sell especially cheap.

Be interesting to see thus develops

No disrespect to any new members but first posts with people in the know are very rarely true, just saying.

If we do sell I hope they announce the fee. He is the best right back outside the Premier League.

There is going to be a month of speculation and rumours, which is a better thing than having none.

Derby denied the story recently, old news.

Of course it's not correct. If the board thought the reaction to selling Shackell was bad at the media price, could you imagine if they sold Brayford for only £1 mil.

Unless he is coming up to 100 games which triggers the additional transfer fee ;-)

I have no idea whether this is true or not, but Clough recently mentioned moving players on that were coming into the last year of their contract. I would be happy to let Brayford go, to benefit the emrgence of Freeman, and improve the squad elsewhere - BUT NOT FOR 1M!! I'd want at least 2.5m.

Sounds a bit like the Noone saga from last Jan.Hopefully with a better outcome.

Trouble is his agent started a lot of rumours off but publically saying his client would not be signing a new contract. This could be to get a bigger contract offer on the table or fire up interest form as many clubs as possible. We are doing things quietly, but obviously his agent wants a little more interest
