PAUL QUINN

Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:56 pm

A host of Championship clubs are ready to take advantage of a release clause to bid for Doncaster Rovers' defender Paul Quinn, Sky Sports understands.

The 27-year-old full-back joined Rovers in the summer on a free transfer from Cardiff City.

However, Sky Sports understands that Quinn has a clause in his contract which allows him to move for free during January.

A number of Championship clubs are now believed to be considering taking Quinn, including his former boss Dean Saunders at Wolves - who is well aware of his situation.

Bolton and Crystal Palace are also thought to be considering making a move for Quinn - who began his career with Motherwell, making nearly 200 appearances for them before joining Cardiff in 2009.

Really ??? Got to be honest i thought he was a terrible player way out of his depth in the championship

Decent player, we needed better but a solid championship player.

He should have played ahead of Naylor whilst with us.

I think he fell out with Jones.

Sorry totally disagree with that he showed nothing here and even had Naylor ahead of him , that says it all !!
I would be happy if he goes to one of our rivals like Palace because most of the wingers in this league will rip him apart .

was good in a couple of games imo, but not good enough for us.. would do decent job for a bottem half championship side

I agree he never looked comfortable at left back but he was a right back and did a solid job for us after his first season in his correct position.

he was under-used, there's no doubt about that. But we were right to get rid of him, although he could do a job for lower half teams and those that are down-sizing like Bolton

I think he pissed of DJ big time the season he started. MotM when we played Leicester City & Gepes got sent off for that rugby tackle.

Not good enough for a promotion chasing team, but a solid championship player for a mid-table side. Always remember his tackle that he got a yellow card for against Scott Sinclair

Kick you in the ankles
Kick you in the shins
You'll never get past
The mighty Paul Quinn!

Agreed, and even led the team during the early rounds of the league cup campaign.
A good defender but prone to too many mistakes during his time here, and limited going forward, which is I believe the real reason he didn't make that many first team outings.

I remember his amazing performance vs leicester at the ccs when we were down to 10 men. Think of was the same season we beat them in the play offs. Don't think he had a fair opportunity in his final year here under Jones.

Tbh Jones is a better man than me, although I liked Quinn if I had heard him singing untrue songs about me he would never have been near the first team again and made him rot.

How exactly was he ruined by Jones?

I thought he was a decent player for us, just a bit of a lightweight like Kev is.

Possibly one of the greatest players we ever had - versatile, liked the good old fashioned tackle and a proper leader when needed. The fact he wasn't played more often is one of the biggest crimes of the current century and I hope Dave Jones realises what he has done to such a talent. He could have been a Premiership star with us, standing alongside Hudson, leader of men, in defence but no, Jones had to be his usual stubborn self and knock his confidence.

It was not just Quinn but he was the player DJ heard. It could have been a number of them.
