Class act yes, loved the guy when he was here but I think we have better here now. We've moved on

Re: Nottingham Forest bid for Chris Burke

Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:36 am

do we have better?

i would rate him at least as good as noone if not a little better, still, i couldnt argue if someone prefered noone, however he would still be the second best winger at the club.

I think noone is the better player but its all a matter of opinion ofcourse. Tommy smith aswell. Kimbo may not have shown that much yet but u can see his class on the ball and there's a brilliant player in the waiting there. Also u have to take burkeys age into account. He must be close to 32 by now. Was surprised to see burkey on the bench when we played a very young brum team. Not sure if he's playing regularly there but perhaps he's not the player he used to be?

I'd love him back here.

Re: Nottingham Forest bid for Chris Burke

he has just turned 29

Re: Nottingham Forest bid for Chris Burke

Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:52 am

29? Really? Maybe I'm wrong then but I thought he was about 29/30 when he left here. Fair enough, but however much I love the guy I still think we are fine for wingers.

Not for me.As good as he was/is he's another one that used to go missing on times.

Re: Nottingham Forest bid for Chris Burke

Not for me either, he was great at going past people but I always thought his final delivery into the box was very poor. Noone for me is a much better option but I suppose it's horses for courses.

He was class for Birmingham last year and who do they play wing? Redmond and Burke are on the bench most games.

Burke made McNaughton look like a schoolboy at their ground.

Not sure about that but Lee Naylor certainly had him in his pocket at CCS :o

Burke was exciting to watch but simply didn't have enough end product. He was more involved in the game than Noone but when Noone does get the ball something tends to happen. There were stats on here earlier this week to back that up :ayatollah:

The other thing with Burkey is that he was deceptively slow  He looked like he was really pacey but in a one-on-one foot race rarely came out on top. Noone has pace to burn and rarely gets caught once he's past the full-back.

His crossing is awful. Agreed he could beat his man but he wouldn't get into this squad, last season he was statistically the best player in the Championship or in the top 3, now he can't get into a relegation threatened Birmingham City team? It's proof that he has one good season then goes off the boil the next. I wouldn't have him back here, we have good enough wingers now.

wouldnt get into this squad  madness!

also players get out of favour at clubs, happens everywhere, Noone wasnt playing all the time for brighton for example.

He'd get into the squad of course but as a bench player, as mentioned above he goes missing, his geography skills aren't accurate as well "I'm moving to Scotland" didn't realise Birmingham was in Scotland

He moved closer to Scotland for his kids. I can understand that.

That's really not that much closer. Less than 2 hours up the road.

I dont really see the need to add a winger of his age, wage and position to the squad when we already have so many options.

No from me

He went to Birmingham when McLeish was in charge. Not a surprise that Forest are after him. Can see him joining. Good signing for them if they pull it off, however he has been poor this year

Would be a decent addition to the squad, wouldn't see him being a regular in the first 11 but good to call on as a back up. Don't think it would happen though, isn't he on something daft like £20k+ a week at Brum?

Re: Nottingham Forest bid for Chris Burke

When he left Our club we got f##k all money,if he wants to come back he comes back free of charge  And that goes for Ledley as well :o

30k apparently.. He was annoyed at Bellamy being paid 30k here so wanted to be on the same wages as Bellars?

Pfft if that's how he thinks good riddance.

He's a good championship winger. Nothing more and he should remember that.
