Absolutely shocking. A club legend that has done so much for them! Been there for nearly all of his career and the way he is being treated is just terrible.
Too old for a new contract? Doesn't matter how old he is, he is still producing the goods. He always seems to be making an impact for Chelsea but still no contract. Should be given a long term contract to allow him to finish his career at Stamford Bridge.
Abramovich if you don't sign him up, you're a disgrace!!

agreed. one thing that struck me about chelsea with no lampard and terry tonight is how they have a lot of class, but not one leader, which is essential for when you find yourself in a situ like tonight

its pathetic, no respect for him!

At 34 nearly 35 is isn't worth the reported 150-170k a week.
I think it's the right decision, Chelsea need rid of the egos like lamp and, terry and cole.

Lampard, ego? How is that even in the same sentence? The lad started his career at West Ham but loves Chelsea and would do anything for the club. He loves the club.
Deserves a new contract and he is "worth the reported 150k-170k a week" because he is still producing the goods for them!

It's been well reported he has been trouble I'm the past for new managers along with terry.
I don't think he is good enough, that's why he isn't in the team.

I will say one thing. No longer do I think he is an attacking midfielder. Now I would say he is a bit like a better version of Paul Scholes. Scholes was brought back to get the passing going in the midfield and to keep the play ticking over. That is what Manchester United needed and I see Lamps doing that for Chelsea in front of the back four, a bit like what McPhail does for us.(when he plays)
Lamps still has that touch of magic though where he does something out of nothing. He still has the quality I think!

If Abramovich is worried of paying Lampard that much because of his fitness, why don't he offer him a one year contract and take it from there?
Offer him another year and say if he plays in at least thirty games over the season then that triggers a clause that offers him another year or something?

Still that's 7.2m for 1 year before bonuses for someone that doesn't get in the first team, that's a lot of money.

Works both ways.
Lampard demanded chelsea double his money to 150 grand a week or he would leave to join mourinio at inter milan. Roman saw this as jose causing him trouble after his sacking, he was probably right, lampard was happy to play along.
Also, lampard was the main ringleader in the sacking of avb. Avb was a big fav of romans. Lampard held all the cards.
Now the russian holds the cards and he dosent forget, chelsea also feel they can get a younger player with the 150 grand a week they pay frank, so lampards toast.
There are rumours that lampard is not well liked in the chelsea dressing room either. So its goodbye frank.

If he ain't going to get a new contract he will be going to America no doubt.
He is over 100k.. wont accept a wage cut and only American teams have that kind of money to spend on players like him.

Better version of Scholes? Come off it. Lampards passing is shite compared to Scholes. The only thing he brings to teh chelsea side is leadership and that he can score goals.

Aye, he's come a long way since he made his professional debut

I for one think that he has earned a new contract at Chelsea, but I think there might be something in these rumours of him and Ashley Cole to Man Utd.

It's just terrible the way they paid him 80 grand a f*cking week for years then didn't renew his contract when he was past it. How will he ever survive now.

From what I've heard, Abramovich felt let down by many of the senior players at Chelsea regarding AVB's sacking. He felt players such as Drogba, Terry, Cole and Lampard never gave AVB a chance and conspired to get him out. Whether that's true or not I don't know but it does make sense, especially considering that Cole is still the best LB in the world and Lampard is still more than capable of doing a job. Why else would Abramovich let him go?

The Cole one is more a surprise as he certainly is one of the best in his position in the world.
