CITY & SWANS SHOWING INTEREST IN JENS TOORNSTRA

Wed Jan 09, 2013 4:41 pm

Both City and Swansea interested in 23 year-old ADO Den Haag midfielder Jens Toornstra, according to his agent.

Translated report (http://www.groengeelhart.nl/?p=nieuws&nid=2507):

"Following Premier League club Swansea City Cardiff City also has interest in Jens Toornstra. The 23-year-old midfielder from ADO Den Haag has a contract until the summer of 2014, but gave many times that he is in his last season in the Hague.

The interest of Cardiff, Swansea and the eternal rival of playing in the Championship, is known by agent Duncan Smith. "They follow Jens in a while, but it has not yet led to a concrete offer," said the supervisor of Toornstra about the interest from Wales.

The ambitious Cardiff City will come out next season in the Premier League and is on track for promotion to the highest level in England. The team manager Malky Mackay is currently on a spacious first place, seven points ahead pursuer Hull City.

ADO Den Haag is keen to Toornstra to sell. The Hagenaars, led by CEO Cees Driebergen, are busy from the financial slump and creep have needed to transfer income next year to write black figures.

"That approach is clear, only I hope Jens until the end of season play with us," says ADO Den Haag coach Maurice Steijn, who is convinced that there is a nice club to come for his attacking midfielder. The player in question waits.

"I focus on football and hear it if there is something concrete," said Toornstra. "My opinion is clear and the club is willing to cooperate. Only it must be a club that suits me and where I can make a good next step.""

According to his Wikipedia page, the lad has played 100 league games for ADO - scoring nine goals - and also made five appearances for the Netherlands U21 team.

Absolute flair name. Sounds like they're willing to sell! The agent of Jens links him to them every transfer window it seems? Hopefully our interest is real.

Why not? Swansea have a bundle of midfielders, all Spanish sombrero wearing tossers or that. Why wouldn't we beat them for him? One team in Wales

Can't see him going to you lot, he wants to go to swansea has even said it, cardiff interest is a side show to put pressure on swansea to sign him, and him being from ADO if he did sign for you lot he wouldn't be able to go home.

Looks more like they are willing to sell in the summer, not now. By then the teams interested may be on a level playing field so it may just be down to the ambition of the clubs.

They've got a deal in place to sign Jose Canas whose a CM I think, so if we do have genuine interest in Jens, surely we'd offer him more first team opportunities?

We're not after him, we've been linked with him for a couple of years but I don't think there was ever a genuine interest. Just a matter of our links with Den Haag, and him being Den Haag's best player.

He'd be a good signing for you though, tidy midfield player who's good at passing and going forward.

We're signing Canas, more of a deep lying midfield people and at a different class to Toornstra although it looks like he won't join until the summer.
