DRAFT LETTER TO CLUB RE: Bluebird

Tue Jan 08, 2013 11:05 pm

Hi all.

I said if share this, it's just a draft at the moment - so feel free to edit or amend to your personal taste.

Before people jump on and say that 1 letter won't make the slightest bit of difference - you are right. The idea is that LOADS of City fans right in and try to force City to show their hand before people commit to a ST.

If you don't agree, simply ignore, rather than carp (excuse the pun!)

Personally I feel written and posted letters will carry more weight, but it's up to you.

Cheers,

Alex.

Dear Sir,

As a Season Ticket holder of the club, it will shortly be the time where fans will start to look at renewing their support for the 2013/14 season.

Over the past year, there have been numerous big changes at Cardiff City FC. The majority of fans were not too keen on the changes, but have continued to attend games and support the club.

Now that the club will shortly be looking for fans to renew their tickets, I think it reasonable to ask and whether further changes to the identity of the club will take place for the forthcoming season.

Will the crest be replaced? Will the famous and iconic "Bluebird" remain an integral part of the clubs identity and remain on the club crest? Many supporters of the club feel a real affinity with the bluebird, as do the football world in general.

I look forward to your response and hope the bluebird stays flying high!

Yours Faithfully,

A N Other

By the way, Leeds did a similar letter protest to Ken Bates earlier in the season & it was extremely effective and was "trending" on twitter.

they could just release a statement about it tbh, they know no one will be happy if the bluebird goes!

I asked for it to be confirmed tonight to Borley and he declined the chance to.

This is just to show that as fans we are concerned.

Very Good Chuckles. Do we send as one or do we send on an individual basis? I would like to see it sent on behalf of this forum. Although if you feel it's more effective on an individual basis then that's what I shall do.

Well, for me, if the club received a high number of letters, it would carry more clout. Plus it allows people to speak for themselves, rather than as a collective.

i wouldn't think Borley would confirm anything before it goes through the club, he might be an idiot but he doesn't want to get in trouble with Tan!... it can't be that hard to say whats happening, they said they regretted not giving us much consultation last year when the rebrand started, so why cant they just say?

But at least they have to be honest if the letter goes in. I would imagine if they lied then refunds would be automatically available under the trade descriptions act if there was a change after all.

Which is exactly what this letter is aimed at doing. The sheer volume of letters showing the ST holders concerns may force their hand. :D

I don't know who you'd email, but I think the letter would carry more weight if sent via post.

It's totally your choice though! :ayatollah:

Borley like everyone else does not know what Tan is going to do.

This is the sort of letter I will be sending to the club. I would like to see all concern STs to do the same. Also I would like to see all organisations like the supporters coaches, the Trust and messageboards do the same.

Lets put the ball back in Tan court.

I thought Borley simply said he "was not aware of any proposed changes" or did refuse to answer? :?

At the end of the day if anyone decides not to renew their season ticket on the strength of the ever-changing badge and after (possible) promotion to the Premiership I think the club will simply take your 'protected value' season ticket and sell to someone at the new 'Premiership' mark up price 8-)

Won't be good but it will happen, I'm afraid :ayatollah:

Letter isn't concerning the badge, but retaining at least some of our identity. Club needs to realise that they may sell seat on, but those sunshine fans won't be there if they get relegated (should they gain promotion in the first place).

Borley won't confirm it because he knows what is occurring Chuckle. I got told yesterday it is very unlikely the Bluebird is going to be on the badge next year. Yes we'll get a say in the badge next year but said badge is unlikely to have a bluebird on it so its basically 'which type of dragon do you want on your badge?' which is wrong. Its completely unfair that we get an option to choose a badge yet are dictated to on what it features. In fact its almost insulting.

Its needs to be sent to someone high up the club so it will be more likely to be passed onto TG and Tan. Sending it to the club in general will be pointless. The best person to aim it at is Simon Lim

Gwyn, surely even you would want the Bluebird to remain right? I shared the same opinion as you on the kit colour and badge but if it doesn't feature the bluebird then it is not Cardiff City FC. Liverpool have had many badges but all have featured the Liverbird. Their fans would go insane if that was taken off the badge. Our fans should do the same.

There is nothing unreasonable about the letter that would cause any problems.

Individuals are writing letters on their own behalf, nobody is writing any letters for a group of fans.
