malkey to vills?

Tue Jan 08, 2013 10:16 pm

Just talking to the boys in the pub about this and wonder if you could give an honest answer to these 2 questions

1 If lambert was sacked in the morning and malky was offered the villa job, would he take it? Yes or no

2 If you were in malkys shoes ( putting club loyaltys aside) would you take it, yes/no

He wont go. We look to being promoted whilst they look like they will get relegated. What would be the point of the move for him

Re: malkey to vills?

No. He has a good understanding with the owners and has stated this a lot and how important this is. He wants to take us up.

Re: malkey to vills?

No, he turned down the Norwich job, why would he take the Villa job?

Also I honestly believe we will spend more money in January than Villa will.

(excluding player sales to buy players)

If he goes then we can have lambert

He is not the type of character to just up and leave without finishing the job

Agree with the above .

He upped and left Watford to go to a bigger club.

No doubt Villa are a bigger club than us but they are in decline at the moment with a chairnan reluctant ti spend.

Tough job.

Hopefully villa will look elsewhere if they do sack lambert

1. Depends on the financial package I would imagine and dependent on the City matching the offer.

2. Yes.

1 . I doubt it considering league positions and financial reasons , I wouldnt count on too much loyalty from malkey he left watford and took there best players he could easily do the same too us . I think if he was to leave it would have to be somewhere like newcastle / celtic / everton size team .

2. No because villa is a poorly run club with no money and a team full of has-beens with attitude problems who dont care or kids with no experiance . Very hard job to turn that around without getting relegated first . imo

Norwich mean a lot more to Malky than Villa.

If he turned that down then it says a lot about his dedication to his job here in my view.

I think people are forgetting just how huge a club Aston Villa is.
Absolutely massive.

Not saying Malky would go (is he up to managing a club of that size in the Prem?)
City or Watford are small change in comparison. Even if we do pass each other in the league.
Just like when Newcastle came down. Huge club, stadium and fan base.

You're joking right?

Swansea are a bigger club than Villa.

I don't think he'd go, this is a project for him, one day he will move on, but I expect he will want to get a promotion on his CV first, if he took the Villa job and they came down it wouldn't have been the best career move IMO

Villa's owner is very tight with cash whereas here Malky is likely to be given a bit of money to spend now in January and if we go up the same to keep us up meaning he can bring in his type of player. Lerner is a control freak which is why O'Neill got fed up and left.

Very true. He did.

I'm a huge fan of Malky, I think he can go all the way as a manager.

But... loyalty in football???

Loyalty is to your family and friends, not a job. If somebody came in and offered him a massive
job with a huge pay rise he'd be off. Wont be Villa though.
