Earnie back at City for talks on his future

Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:58 am

ROBERT Earnshaw returns to training with Cardiff City today and will hold talks with manager Malky Mackay over his future.

Earnshaw flew in from Israel yesterday and is intent on proving his worth in the second half of Cardiff’s season.

But Mackay has warned: “I would imagine Robert will be looking for games which he is not going to get.

“He is part of my group but I would imagine he will be looking to get out again.

“We will help him and there will be interest. He thought he would be staying with Maccabi Tel Aviv but that was not to be.

“We will work hard to get something moving for him.”

Mackay already has Craig Bellamy, Heidar Helguson, Rudy Gestede, Joe Mason and Etien Velikonja challenging for frontline places, while he is set to add at least one more striker this month.

Bolton’s Marvin Sordell and Sunderland’s Fraizer Campbell are among those who have been linked with a move to Cardiff.

But Earnshaw said: “I have the hunger to play and I want to score more goals.

“My priority is to prove myself again at Cardiff, but we’ll see how that develops.

“I will savour every moment of training and do all I can to show I can contribute if needed.

“I’ve been playing regularly and scoring for Maccabi Tel Aviv, a team aiming to win the Israel League and qualify for European Champions League football.

“Goals are my business and I have no doubt there are more to come.

“I love this club and want to be a part of what is happening, the strikers here have been outstanding, but if I am needed I will be there like a shot.”

Earnshaw was due to stay with Maccabi until the end of the season after being loaned out in September, while he told the Israeli club’s website: “Due to certain circumstances and some family reasons I have to go back to Cardiff.”

Not strictly true, MM had been in charge nearly a month when Earnie officially signed.
Although im lead to believe it was the Malaysians who signed him.
