Who would make the cut ?

After the result last night and a few development games who in our squad will make the cut if we get up and how many players will we need to complete a competitive squad in the premier league ? I read a few comments saying certain players are not good enough so who would you keep ? Mine are -

I think that would leave us needing a goalkeeper , 3 defenders , 3 midfielders and 3 strikers .
John looks promising , gestede has potential but needs to show it in a run of games im not sure he will get so wont make the cut , mutch has not impressed me one bit but cost a lot of money so will stay , helgusson may be too old by then , taylor wont be able to handle premier league wingers like lennon hes too slow , velinkonja ???????? havnt a clue what hes like really , and ralls has potential but prob needs to go out on loan .

Cowie will be here for sure, he offers a lot of energy and is good to bring on when trying to close a game out.

Lewis will also stay, I feel he's a solid enough back up to Marshall who is already Prem quality.

Lewis has never really impressed me , i think we would need better back up for a prem keeper
Cowie has the legs and energy but is hardly premier league quality hes barely championship quality his first touch is shocking he cant go past people and he cant pass more than 5 yards , he does try though i will give him that !
I also think they will both stay just wouldnt be in my squad tbh dont know what rhys is laughing at its a simple question of who do you think would be good enough ?

If promotion was achieved then without rose tinted glasses, this would be my observation on the current squad...

Tried to be as objective as possible, especially with players like Mutch, as I feel the Premiership style of football with more space and time on the ball would suit him better. Turner's inability to play the ball on the floor and his 40 yard diagonal hoofballs have dropped him to become a "maybe". We'll need more composure at the back and perhaps a more pacey CB.
Declan John has a big future. Whenever I've seen him, he stands out as superior to often older players around him. Deserves his chance in the 1st team. Kept Rudy as defenders just don't like dealing with this type of in your face player. He's never going to be prolific, but he causes havoc allowing space for others to capitalise on. Etien, I'm sorry to say that I saw nothing to suggest he's up to the standards required. Poor touch, weak and easily brushed off the ball and to be honest looked as though he wasn't up for it. One way ticket back to Maribor. Lewis doesn't fill me with confidence. Do we still have Parish?? Kiss, least said the better. Going backwards.

so... what we need

1 x Goalkeeper to challenge Marshall
3 x Defenders
1 x central midfielder/playmaker (Ramsey/Giggs)
1 x winger
1 x Centre forward (Kenwyn Jones)

at least 6 players to give City a reasonable fighting chance.

Thing is you cant just release someone when they have a contract.

the real answer to this thread is 'no one knows' we've seen average players go up, Baptist, Ian evatt, Gary monk, Russell Martin etc and be absolutely fine. even players like holt still find the net regularly. we'll have a few surprises of who comes good when/if we go up
